Do late bay 6 rib IRS boxes fit?

As the title says, will a late bay 6 rib box fit in my creative IRS setup?

Hi,

not unless you want to cut out the front mount and possibly some of the torsion tube.
Cheers,
Dom.

You can do it in a beetle with a special intermediate housing and nosecone - berg sell the bits.
When fitting an early bug with a later box you have to use a split nosecone, so maybe Berg do something that would fit.

The only ones I have seen fitted to a split have had the whole rear end put in (ie frame horns removed)

Might be worth asking Cogbox or Bears?

Cheers for the replies, and Paul that would be really helpful. From memory the 6 rib box is super strong with nice gearing hence it might be worth the effort but I don't really want to change all the torsion set up :-/

Ive got one in mine, cruises lovely,im only running a 1641 tho so when flat out ie off the clock its only just doing over 3,000rpms.When funds allow wanna stick something bigger in there with it
The back end of my bus was irs'd using a bay set up tho,was already done when i bought it.It was running a 1600 bay box which was great pulling away but not so good cruising so i stuck the 091 in.
If you request me on facebook ive some pics of the gearbox swap in an album

Although the 6 rib boxes have better ratios than the early bay boxes, they still are nowhere near as tall as a beetle box can be
