Nose Cone Bushes

by vwJim » Sun Nov 24, 2013 6:04 pm
Evening all.

Looking to replace the bushes on the nose cone (T2), and the later replacement bush kits that have the rubber seal housing aren't listed as fitting a T2 nose cone, but I'm sure these have fitted in the past?

Can anyone confirm if the later style do or don't fit a Split Bus nose cone?

Hi Jim,

I had a brand new nose cone fitted on the bus and it has the later style bush and rubber seal

I fitted a later style one but had to add extra shims as the diameter of the later one was smaller so I would be prepared to fettle the later one.

They changed about 1966 Jim. The seal apparently is not retro-fittable to the earlier nose cone according to the WSM. It coincided with the improved drainage on the internal webbing - thus making the later nose cone a preferred option in my opinion. At least that's the one I have fitted.

Well I can confirm that they don't fit properly.

I bought 2 x nose cone bush kits that would apparently fit my 67.. both different but neither fitted. After a long and helpful conversation with Bears I sent my "oddball" nosecone to them and they custom made a bush and seal for less than £20 cant recommend them enough, it was back within days as well. :D

Long enterprise did sell a bush for earlier nosecones. But you had to spend quite a lot before they would ship to the UK
