Front drum brake springs

Front drum brake springs

by Trevorvw » Fri Jan 10, 2014 7:58 pm
Help, dementia has set in. I'm trying to refit the front drum brakes on my 1960 splittie. If I put the springs holding the two shoes together in front of the shoes they pull the shoes away from the backing plate, but if I put them behind the shoes they foul on the brake pipe connecting the two brake cylinders. Which is the right way to connect the two springs - in front of the shoes or behind? I'd appreciate any advice.

they do fit behind the shoes, it's close to the bridge pipe but will fit. might have to slightly bend the pipe away from the springs.
