1953 Matilde
by oldbikes » Sat Nov 29, 2014 7:43 pm
Hi,
After so many nights watching and learning through this amazing forum, I think now it's time to present Matilde, a 1953 van.
Original sold to Portugal to be used in the army forces, was then sold to a civilian who transfomed it to camper.
I bought it 3 years ago and many hours have been spent trying to rebuild it. I hope you like it.

Welcome aboard! Now that's a project, it is the one with the homebrew pop top isn't it?

There's no surprise!
Actually, there is a topic about my van in The samba but it was completely ignored!
I hope that doesn't happen here. There's only a few people in Portugal to talk about barndoors

HI, thanks
These pictures are from one year ago, so I don't know about the race
work done on the doors
The floor ready
and finally... the roof. It was not easy
This is how it is know. Waiting to be painted.
I would like to have preserved the original paint, unfortunately, in Portugal, no car is allowed to circulate with any kind of rust. You see, we are very special...

Good work on that roof there dude
You should have kept quiet about how old the pictures are and had a bet
Looking forwards to seeing it in paint.
Cheers, Lee.

It's going to be Dove Blue. I have still to decide if it will be satin or gloss
