A joint effort again with this bus! Vwjim is stripping and rebuilding it and we get the fun stuff to do like cutting and welding while trying to to damage the Spike’s paint....
It’ll be an interesting project for sure!

With all our buses we paint while restoring them as to add to the level of protection and it’s easy while the panels are off.
Now we can start putting the rest of the bus back together (we have already put in new lower A post’s, inner valance and a Hayburner raised steering box mount)

What is the story with this? Was it shiny paint over rusty underside?

It was originally being done as a rolling resto as I never really wanted it off the road and stripped down, as so many buses never go back together I didn't want to be one those guys.
So before it reached Blasting die it had been to other body shops for work on the roof and one side(this workmanship I don't have any problem with), but last year decided that the only way was a strip down as I wanted more new panels going on and the underside blasting and painting.
A lot of work that's now happening is just crap and poor workmanship by previous body shops over the 35 years.
The roof and one side that's already blue isn't being touched( which more than likely makes it harder for Will )as a lot of what's it attached to and other repairs all over the bus have been done very badly previously to that work.
If I had to do it again I would strip it first but its not cheap and didn't really have the money then. nor now really

Lots more work finished for Andy’s Bus.
All panels prepped and painted before welding on to help protect them.

Working on removing the lower bulkhead, lots of sound deadening to remove before welding can take place.

More work on the bus.
Short and rear corner test fitted, prepped and painted.
Rear wheel tub, C post repaired and the battery tray, D post with supports all prepped ready for new Metal.
Rear of the bus has had a hit and the D post is bent and twisted so we will pull that straight before making the new panel sections.
