by SplitBusVanatic » Thu Jun 22, 2006 11:26 pm
Florida Import, a few months back now..
Made a start on it, finally..
Sorry about some of the pics, Cam. Phone..
Yeah, my buddy in Florida is a funny guy,, Yeah I'm laughin alright..
This sill looked ok until closer inspection.. Filler, Filler everywhere.
Sorry (phone pic).. long sill welded in.. inner sill also done.. forgot to take pic, was on a roll at the time.. Doh..
time to have a break from the sills.. me knees are shot.. snickers trousers with kneepads would be nice methinks..
On to Under cab seats area, Drivers side, (LHD)
It'll do for now, bit rough, but i'll tidy it later..
That's me for now..
On to the cab floor for a while..
Keep you guys posted..
I love this site BTW..
Congrats to all involved..
Thanks
Dan..

So..
Driver's cab floor and same side arch done for now..
(much tidying needed here)
Onto cargo door sill for a while,,
The sill made almost entirely of filler..
Not to worry.. soon have a nice schofield inner-sill and outer sill with strengthener in it's place..
Maybe then a magnet might stick to it..
More later in the week..
Thanks for looking..

Here's where I'm At right now..
Getting close to Welding being completed.. whoo hoo..
Cargo door sill, remember the filler,
inner and outer, and short sill running to the rear of the bus.
also patching of same side floor..
Very happy with this bit of work..
This evening saw Me mate Kev (AkA DaBanabh) give me a hand,
he's a wizard with a grinder,
Very hot in the workshop,
but we suffered on..
Managed to get passenger side cab floor area cut out and prepped
plus area under same side seats...
More to Be done this wknd,
Thanks
D.C.
Ah Yes, DaBanabh..
He'll get in there, no questions asked..
Thanks Kev.

OK,,,
After all my trouble and expense of undersealing the underside of the westy,
I was having my doubts..
So,
with those thoughts rattling around in my brain,
and the oppurtunity to get hold of a sandblaster and some sand,
all i needed was to rent a compressor..
I jumped at the chance..
So,
Over the period of Holy Sat, Easter Sun & Easter Monday..
The weather was set to hold..
We attacked it..
Here's a few pics
So,
With all the underside sandblasted, primed and locked up indoors,
And with the little time and energy we had left,
we re-cycled the sand for the FIFTH time and set to work
on the battered and bruised Bumpers and front Beam..
I'll post more pics soon of the gorgeous primed Front beam.. and primed undercarriage..
Only joy now is,
I have to go back and tidy up my welds and little holes that we uncovered after the blast..
I'd recommend the whole sandblasting process for any novice like me..
You really see what is under all the rotten underseal and generations of paint..
I'm delighted with the whole thing..
Thanks,
D.C.
P.S.
huge thenks to Cuz Paul for his Mammoth input into this project,
i'll have to airbrush his name on the side of the finished bus or something..
