Thanks,
Its actually an Aussie van getting done in Australia for a change.
I think there are more Aussie vans back in England than there are here :D :D :D :D Times are changing though, I know of at least half a dozen getting worked on in South Australia alone.

I forgot about how much rust you find when you start cutting away.
I thought it was a nice fairly rust free example.
Bet we have all thought that.

Still cutting the "patina" out.
Been a bit slow over Christmas, but the missus has just said I can have 2 days a week to work on it.

Great work - following this thread with great interest as my bus is just so similar.

With the joggler on the front panel do you intend to put a step in your new replacement panels so the back edge sits behind the outer skin on your bus? I presume you would then punch holes in the outer skin to plug weld through?!!! May be a picture as you do it would be helpful if possible.

I don't have any air tools but do have a hand held joggler so it may take me a while to put a step into the whole panel edge!!!!!!!

Best of luck, great work so far.

Yes Steve, thats how I am going to do it.
I will also cut down the replacement panel to fit, never cut the original to the size of the new one as if you make a mistake you cant fix it if theres nowhere to go.

Thats a nice looking bus. Are you planning to keep the OG paint or start fresh?

OG paint is going.
Sorry but I like new, cant see the point in replacing panels , lower front nose, both sills, cargo doors, passenger door, then replacing all the rubbers, then trying to match 40 odd year old paint, its got scratches through to the metal and minor dents all over, as any 43 year old vehicle will have.
Do it properly, do it once.
