Hello, my splitty barn find

Hello all, this is my first post on the forum, so a big HELLO to all.
I’ve been a fan of VW’s since before I could drive, and owned my first splitty back in 1982. My dad made me get rid of it, (to be fair, it was a wreck). I swapped it for a beetle, but about a year later, in 1983, I found what was my split, in a scrap yard. Broke my heart!
Managed to buy my first bay in 1990, and I’ve still got it. I know I’m lucky to be in a position to have more than one veedub, but I can’t believe how lucky I was to find my splitty.
We were recently on holiday, in the T25, down in Bordeaux, where we met a great bloke – Mike/dsbus - who was in his split. He suggested that the forum might be interested to see my find. I heard about it from a friend who knew I was addicted to vw’s, and managed to buy for a very reasonable price. Now for the expensive part – the restoration. Looks like the bottom six inches need replacing!
Hope I’m not bragging, just hoping to share my good fortune.
So I expect to become a regular here as I seek the advice of you all, as restoration proceeds.
