Mr. Bo Jangles 13 window deluxe
by BO JANGLES » Thu Apr 17, 2008 9:46 pm
I was lucky enough to find my 67 13 window about 2 years ago, Ade from Boxwagen in Poole imported it from the states in about 2000. When I got it , it had been IRS'd, running on empi 5's & had a basic Bus furniture interior, the engine had been upgraded to a 1776 with single carbs.

[/img]
Since I've had it I've rebuilt the engine added twin 36's, stainless exhaust, new shocks alround & few more bits. I've now got the van booked in for a full resto/custom with Karl of Beetlebank in Devon.
I saw his work in Ultra Vw magazine on a Beetle featured. I'm building the interior for Karl to then trim.
I started by mocking it up in cardboard.

then stripped it out & started lining it
[/img]

then I started building the curved section of the seat
[/img]
& added the plinth

I then used the old bench seat & single seat with a bit of work
[/img]
back with the cardboard
[/img]
& then made from wood

Thanks guys, I'll add a bit more soon, I'm building some curved cabinets & facing with birch ply, they're coming together nicely. I also bought something else to use while Mr. Bo jangles is away being done.

I then started making the other rear back rest & the cardboard cabinet behind the passenger seat
[img]
and the curved cabinet inthe back
[/img]
and facing it with 1.6mm birch ply being careful to make sure the grain ran through the opening top

always in greatful of a helping hand from Jasmine
[/img]
making the frame for another cabinet

whilst Mr. Bo will be away being I wanted something still on the road, the trouble was I found two vans I liked
[img]
But I soon realised I couldn't be that greedy so I sold the T25 crewcab & introduced the 71 devon bay, named Betty Bo Jangles to Mr Bo Jangles

Not being a craftsman by trade everything is trial & error, but I'm hoping to line both the inside & outside first in hardboard, then layer on top with the birch ply. Before I do that I need to add 4 cross members, which will then be the top of the frame & door & the bottom of the frame & door.
At that point, it will need some very careful cutting ......... I'll post some more pictures when it's done ........... hopefully.......... if not I'll scrap it & get someone who knows what he's doing to construct it.
