1964 Slammed/Narrowed Swedish Panel Resto

Thought it was about time i started doing something with my Split this year, well i have owned it Nearly 5 YEARS!

I bought it of some ones forsale board at Bug jam 2005. I had always wanted a split as until then I had purely messed around with 70's bugs.

I saw it on the Sunday, went and looked at it on the Monday and the guy delivered it from Leighton Buzzard to Wiltshire on the Wednesday or Thursday. I then put it in a small lock up garage and that's where it stayed until now. I have a habit of getting distracted by other projects so this will probably take some time!

Will let the pictures speak for themselves.

Just spied that it's was built very early in '64 model year production, just like mine :D

Don't suppose you'd PM me the chassis number would you? our vans might have been side by side on the production line 8)

More done tonight.

Got the cab doors off had to drill the lower screws out as they were rusted solid, and they were all flat head screws which didnt help.
Also got the steering box and columb off without to much drama. The pedals were siezed which made removing them interesting, so its all looking quite bare underneath now still rusty though.
As you will see the centre chassis needs a total refit the rails have been bodged at some point in the past, he chassismembers and outriggers are nowhere to be found and the I beams and top hats have been replaced with box section.
It is a catalog of poor repair its all got to be right before i install the running gear i have planned. :D

Got some better pictures tonight.

Just a few more parts to remove and store away then i will make a rolling jig to keep everything straight while the chassis is out.

More updates soon

'Crab claw 64'...club

Jim, what's the destination code? just seems strange to be LHD and have lefthand loading doors, usually they'd be RHD and righthand loading doors for delivery vans that would be driven on the left, i.e Sweden :?
