"OH NO" 66 13 WINDOW DELUXE GROTBOX!!
by dustysplit » Sat Aug 10, 2013 11:13 am
Been after a splitty for years, wanted a nice little resto project with minimal welding but this came real cheap and I am in no rush to get it on the road, if it's done in 3 years I will be a happy chappie, not for the faint hearted
Pictures paint a thousand words so here goes
1966 13 window deluxe walkthrough, pretty much all the deluxe trinkets there, thirty trees were cut down to rescue it!! Has come from Ohio, an eccentric bloke called Don Struble purchased it in 1974 and travelled the states in it for a few years until he decided to park it in Mount Victory, Ohio and build himself a house, he lived in the splitty while building the house and thats where it stayed until early this year!! I have a hand written letter from Don who has no telephone, camera and not even a pair of shoes! You could of grown potatoes between his toes!( so I'm told) He hates mobile phones and will shoot anyone who approaches his property with one!( true judging by the amount of 9mm shells I have pulled out of the bus) He did request in his letter us British guys take photos before, during and after restoration and post them over as he was really attached to this bus and nearly did'nt sell it!!
I have loads more pics, but thats enough for today!! I have cleaned it out and thats about it at the moment, trying to get hold of a roof section for the front as a tree had fell on it and it is pretty rotton so needs replacing, so if anyone knows of a front half or from the B pillars forward give me a shout please.
This is going to be a long project, I am away on holiday soon so when I get back hoping to get stuck in!!
Laters!!
