After years of wanting a splitty and debating the why's and wherefor's... I have finally bought my first one
A '67 Sundial, originating from Alabama.
Here's a couple of shots, taken by previous owner, as I just haven't had time to take any myself.
The van is currently at a mates workshop, where the nice, solid underneath is about to be wirebrushed, then Waxoyled, with the arches being coated in black stone chip.
Then begins the project, proper

Just got a piece of heater pipe (elbow) to weld in at the front...

Home soon, so I can get this party started...

Right, I guess that, as this is a project thread, I may as well set my stall out, as to what I intend doing with my new bus, then back it all up with evidence!...

I got my camper a few weeks ago (18th Nov 2013). Just got the underside sealed with a Waxoyl/underseal mix, while I'm away. Hopefully, this will protect through Winter, should I take it outside!
I (someone ) will be hitting it big time, once things settle down in Feb.
It's a good runner as it is, but my little boy only has eyes for the bling, so, although he was really excited at getting a splitty (he loves them), he was less than impressed with the patina look! Even the Porsche seats couldn't sway him! I was proper gutted!!

I've been a biker all my life, but they can't involve my son, and would probably end up messy, so, time to move on... I've wanted a splitty for years, but other things kept getting in the way. Recently I saw this van and just knew this was my time
The bus is our future All about weekends, cruzing and holidays together, and when I've had enough, it'll be gifted to Aiden (number one son)...
Even the plate is ADY I pointed that out to him, trying to get him to buy in to it, he just said, "Aiden, daddy... DEN!" Kids, eh... He'll love it, when it's shiny.

I'll be fitting Safari's, plus I'm going to replace my Jalousie's with pop-outs, all polished.
Not sure of the rear interior as yet, possibly go back to the 3/4 bed & wardrobe, as we'll be kipping in an awning type tent (when I decide on which). The Porsche front seats will be reupholstered to match the rest...
Engine is getting bigger, too. Currently a very healthy 1641, twin carb, it will be replaced by a bigger lunmp, possibly turbo'd, too.
Was/am considering a RHD conversion.
Oh yes... One last thing... I'm going to SLAM it, as low as possible, without having to resort to tubbing!
All done in the Norwich area...
So excited thinking about it, again...

Sweet looking bus Brian. As it runs Ignore your list & get out n use it when the weather allows. We did this for a year and became a little wiser. Still and do make exspensive mistakes but started to learn what we wanted from ours and refine it after every trip.

Do the basics for safety & peace of mind, then make a list later as you get ideas from others as time goes by. Trust me will save you a fortune.

Remember Lots of pics or it didn't happen and keep updates coming or resto police will come a knocking.

May well leave the rear of the bus for a while... Same as a new house, you live there a while, before alterations...

Just spoke to my mate, that heater bend is now installed, bottom of bus sealed, ready to cruze.
