Bumper, door tops painted then it was on to fitting the rubbers, wow what a nightmare job but almost finished now.

Image
Bumper fits beautifully now but what I haven't shown you guys is the fact that I had to stretch the bumper with a porta power and cut off and re-weld both side brackets for it to fit nicely but that was all done before paint.

Metal work finished on the under dash tray and made another window bar because I only had one to start with.

I don't even know what to say, how did you do all these? Can I be your son please? I have an old VW Beetle as rusted as this one... All I'm thinking is a rebuild but the hoe is a problem

Managed to get some room in the spray booth so painted the 1/4 light frames, indicator parts and the dash tray.

One door top on but the new rubbers plus the weight of the glass is making the door drop, I'm going to leave the door shut so the rubbers can bed in then readjust.

Welded an extension tube to the backplate so the handbrake cable now fits, tried the drum on and would you know it I've got a working handbrake!

Image

Happy with the way the cable roots now after turning my backplates upside down.

i knew you were a body man when i saw the way you had the filler on the roof but then i started to have my doubts when i saw the newspaper masking ,great work mate looks fantastic, just a question on the red9 front. I see that you have it on the lowest settings on the chassis and almost fully down on the coilovers, is this as low as it will go? just it seems a little high for being all the way down?

It's on it's lowest setting on the bolt holes but the coilovers are set as it came so I'm guessing it will go lower still but if you want to go really low then you have to go dropped spindals and adjusters but I'm happy enough with the height.

Made some panels and covered them in perforated vinyl so I could then fit the sun visors.

Added the dash tray, tidied up the wiring and fitted the kick panels and seats! Bought these seats already upholstered so I'll run with the grey for now and change it later.

Also started fitting the rear door cards and long side panels.

Cleaned up the original 6v horn and got it working, I had a spare hole in the dash so I decided to put the horn push there using a switch from eBay.

Fitted new Bosch HT leads, got the throttle connected and put some fuel in the tank for the first time!
