test fit the wood for the hood before fitting it for good .... going to paint under the wood before fitting it and then fit wood for good before painting the vert as dont want to chip anything as its a little but of a bugger to fit

sometimes i really hate this stage of the resto

6 hours work and not a lot to show for it GGGGGRRRRRRRRRR

half the bonnet sanded ( only two dents found ) )






Both rear wings 99% done . ..... thin skim of filler to take away my bodyfile marks from when a tapped them around removing the dents ....... I also had to make a few repair parts to cut in as there was rust holes but I wanted to keep the OG wings as word on the street was the repo ones are no good and will need loads of work to fit to the the vert so i was always going to save my original panels as they were not to bad ....... but a bugger to do the filler work on .....OR MAYBE I'M JUST GETTING OLD ....lol


then onto the bonnet


I'll get both rear wings popped into primer this week so they can sit around and go off rock hard ..... rear rear panels already down the bodyshop getting primered


not long now and it will be paint o'clock

Hi mark, between the high build and final paint, what grade did you rub gerry down with? When I did mine i used 600grit on the high build before top coat but it took forever and was prob a bit ott.

Nothing special about the epoxy primer ..... just call your local car spray shop supplier and dont go cheap ... you get what you pay for ,,,,

i used lechler primer products .... you can alos get it supplied tinited ( as you can see on this can its baby blue ) ... but I use white as I'm going red and the white mates the red cover easier but at the same time stay a nice red and not turn a dark red

Its very true ... this site seams very quiet these days ... this thread will never be another Gerry's thread ..... I've been far to lazy as I dont like the photo upload system ... I know people have adviced me on better upload ways but it's all gobbledygook to me .... so I just do the odd upload here and there to keep the none FB peeps uptodate


Things are starting to get exciting on the vert ...... but thimgs are also getting expensive now and i've started to buy things for the biuld up stage and I always know that the painfull stage but fun too




I have some things down the bodyshop that are ready for colour

x1 door
x2 hinges
x2 dash trims
x1 glove box lid
x1 rear panel

so excited to see those RED


also the bonnet and both rear wings are now in first stage primer

and the boot lid is in final stage primer

I'm still working on the N/S door as not 100% happy with it yet

and not the shinny looking paint ... is just primer with de-grease in it ... Me checking reflaction for imperfections
