New exhaust fitted in preparation for the new valance, the old one was so high I would have had to cut holes in the bumper



Hoping to paint the tailgate, valance and engine cover next week, they are all prepped and ready for colour.

Excellent build thread - very jealous of all these people that have panel beating skills and access to spray booths etc.. Can I ask some advice (as I don't have any of your skills) going to spray a second engine lid (different colour to my bus )and was thinking of preparing the lid with some wet & dry first and then applying a coat or two of primer before final spray .. I notice you reference to a high build primer quite a lot - is that better to use than a normal primer.. Thanks

First things first boardman, make sure you are painting over two pack paint, get some thinners on a rag and wipe over the paint, if the rag is stained with the colour of the engine lid then paint strip it as its probably cellulose paint (although unlikely but best to check). If its two pack then you can rub down the lid with 800 wet and dry and paint with solid colour if its in good condition, if it is chipped and scratched then feather out the scratches with paper on a block but not too coarse, I wouldn't go under 240 grit. Prime with high build primer (2K) and give it about 4/5 coats if its a 5 to 1 primer. Allow to dry and then rub down with 800 wet and dry.

Tailgate, valance and engine lid painted and machine polished, busy day fitting the glass to the tailgate, putting on the rear valance and fitting the engine lid.



The rear valance sits really tight to the exhaust so added some heat shield to the back and gave it a little bend.



and finally the petrol flap is on.

Door membrane fitted, made from some tough packing material and door cards screwed into place.

Great thread and resto love your paint and finish, a whole lot of lovely work in the whole bus.

Fitted rear bumper and tailgate script badge, did a final check of tightening all the bolts underneath as I'm thinking of taking it for an MOT next week

Looking great and ready to go, should pass the MOT with the amount of work you have put into it.

Then it was off for an MOT!

But it was like driving the kitchen table down the road, needs some serious suspension adjustments.

Repaired all the cracks in my steering wheel with a 2 part glue from Wurth, rubbed down and painted along with the horn push



Adjusted the front shocks and got the tracking done, now drives much better.

I’ve been getting out in it as much as possible then once its home adjusting things and checking nuts and bolts for tightness, noticeably the rear hub nuts needed another tighten along with the front calliper bolts!
