Another showing the dreaded rot at the top of the wheel tub to division..
I know they all go there...
I was amazed at how well the wheel tubs came out...I was expecting the typical lace doily but there were only one or two bad areas.
Thankfully.
So more progress shots to come..
Eh Lurkio?
Yes Master!

Went to visit Haywood Custom and Classic to review progress on Sherry on Saturday.
She looks much more like a viable project now.
He has been using some A post cuts as donors for the seal returns and the shaped forms around the hinges etc.

The dreaded rot attacks in some strange places...

Dave had all the detail parts blasted as well at one go and will be jenolyting them to stop the dreaded instant rust on the shotblasted surface.
Matt has been doing sub assembly of the outer cill with inside cargo door retainer ready to set the frame square.

Matt n Dave have already repaired the cargo doors and these have been blasted.
Matt will use the doors to set the B post square and position of the outer cill below it and then to complete the welding of the chassis pieces he has replaced.
He cut out the sections of chassis which have the slanted pieces that have the loom holes in. He will be fitting conduit to take the main loom and auxiliary loom down each side.
The progress is slow because he is making panels to let in and replace badly holy corroded panels.
Matt has been squaring up and levelling up the floor and the front end.

Want one of these for anyone who is stripping down a front clip...

Matt has been rebuilding Colin's gearbox to replace the baulk rings to try to eliminate the " crunch..."
He had also run out if nails to replace the planks on the Ship of Theseus..
Hopefully now he has fresh metal from Autocraft, the rebuild to get the Hull and Keel rebuilt will continue.
markp gave me a compliment.. recently
He always calls me the Riddler .....but now he says..
"You talk like YODA..."

So Dave has been painting the large assemblies with black inside and acid etch on the outside ready for assembly.
We had almost all the large and small parts painted to aid the preservation...
You will note the heater vent tubing has some Big Discontinuities where the tin worm has been eating away...
I knew Matt/ David had been ultra careful in taking the metal work off and on the main had been successful BUT I had not seem some of the panels/ components for a while...
They usually take the doors off first and repair them first...trial fitting them to check back in the apertures....
Then they use the doors to reset the bottom 6" of the cill below the cargo doors and the fit of the dog legs etc.
So the cab doors...

After blasting these had to repaired further on the leading edge due to corrosion but look good now...

Lurkio?
Lurkio?
"Is that Theseus I see nailing yet more planks on that ship of Theseus?
Why does he keep saying that it will look just like it did originally?"
"He says it will be all OG....when he finishes!
But will it be the same ship?"

Of course it will all be original.
All the steel was at one time iron ore in the earth's crust so it's all from the same source.
Just not assembled by a German
I don't think he's German................

Herr Matt is he German?
Yah!
Well he drives like a German....
He is very capable and he has done a great job of the gearbox rebuild..
For Colin...
He has had a lot of experience on baulk rings and gearbox work....

Cargo doors had been stripped and bottoms replaced and new skins trial fitted and trued up...on the bench and then compared back to a sound body.
These have been etch primed on the outside and then given a coat of black on the inside ...ready for the final fit up...

All looks to be coming on well...
Lots more pictures being received as I type.

Under cab splash pan was missing so I searched a replacement out... and it cleaned up very well.. It is RHD but not 100% sure of the year..
Will need to be modified to clear the end of the dual master cylinder in due course but for now protected with acid etch..

Air box cover was good on the 62 when I stripped it all down and it will be fitted to the replacement roof..

One rear wheel arch has been fitted to the body but the other was not fitted before shot blasting.
It has been pre drilled to weld it in place..
So this was painted with acid etch ready for assembly

I had two sets of door frames which I had stripped down completely..
The bottom bars on the 1962 OG set had rusted very badly but I had a pair from the 1966/67 doors which were fitted to Peebles and all the parts have been blasted to attempt to make up a good set for Sherry.
Yet more planks for the "Ship of Theseus"

Heater tube' petrol flap and door top lower bar

Yet more pictures from Dave...
He has been a busy boy... protecting my parts...

Looks to me as if you have a thin profile one side and a fat profile the other. That's what I had, but they're both fat now!

I have a thought it may be.....both thin. ...
I think they should be thin in 1962...
I think your early door was the source of the thick one...
Pebbles were thin like this and steel...I think..
Later ones from 1966/7 were alloy...
I think the ones I fitted to Peebles were alloy and looked like this...
I have several ticks....
Some nike..
Some from..The dog...
LOL
I took two sets of doors apart so I will compare them all to make a pair up..

So bumper bracket with support.
