(EDISON) THE WESTY SO33 RESTO UNDERWAY

All the window seals are perished so I thought I'd treat them to some fresh rubber ,the tiny screws you have to get out to split the frames on the pop outs were tight little sods so I heated the heads of the screws with a tiny flame with my gas welding torch carefully so as not to burn the og paint off the frames Also had some time to try out the tents.

Sent the bus in Saturday for a new cab floor and cargo side sill welding in and took the seats through to J & S Upholsterer for them to weave their magic. Whilst that's going on had a couple of hours to freshen up the sub hatch ( broken catches new birch liner and seal )

This van is astonishingly good Mick. I'm really interested in watching your interior restoration, it's the one part of my 33 that's completely missing.

Keep up the good work and don't skimp on the pics!!! :D

Cheers

Still waiting for the bus to come back from the body shop so cracked on with a few jobs .Repaired the wardrobe and larder unit ready for veneering , rebuilt the steering box with new bearings and seals (note the recess on the column for the factory steering lock ) Made a ply template for the sub hatch and tig welded new stud on hinge to replace broken one . Repainted steering box, handbrake lever and gear stick.

Still waiting for the bus to come back so cracking on with cleaning , repairing sanding the interior cabinets ready for re veneering also going to repaint the tubular frames for the backrests. The hinge pieces of wood on the seat base behind the bulkhead have been puzzling me of what is there function and hey presto the penny dropped . The backrests are thinner than the seat bases so when the bed is made up the hinge pieces are flipped up to take the backrests ,making the bed all one level ,simples!!

Needed a bit more metal than first thought, ( Don't they all? ) Three jack points ,three outriggers ,inner & outer cargo sill ,cab floor ,seat runner, couple of cargo floor patches and repaired the hole PO cut out above the Carb in the engine compartment. All done, should be painted next week so hope to crack on with the rest.

Always wondered where to get laminate from, as we're going to build our own interior been looking for supplyers in the UK, it's looking good and the paint came up well.

Where did you get the parts from for the steering box, could do with rebuilding ours RHD bus, also got a spare RHD to do at some point.
