Looks fantastic, I have to say I love my Dormobile roof, the extra height is great. And having the bunks to shove children and camping junk into is something I couldn't live without.

What a lovely job you are making of this, normally i dont approve of modifying split body shells at all but I think its great that you took it to dormobile for the roof conversion for me it gives it real authenticity while making it more practical for yourself, can't wait to see it completed!

Well
As you say he has followed the correct route and the conversion is a Dormobile recognised conversion....
Martin Walter (Dormobile) installed these, Devon installed these, Westfalia installed these and others no doubt....
The original Pop top that Devon installed was a Gentlux pop top and these must have been unpopular because it is said these leaked...
I looked for ages for one and my son by chance on my direction...bought one....but not a Devon installed one...
Yes it is on a 1964 Devon Caravette but not the size quoted by Devon...
As Maddison solved for me ...it was an aftermarket addition....and larger...and I now know of three...All aftermarket additions...

So as long as it was period...
I am Ok with the addition..
Standing up in a camper...at 6' 2" is a BONUS..
Sherry does not have a pop top..it is a TT...but am I tempted by this thread...

YES YES YES

problem is ..I only have two Dormobile racks and a full length VWOA rack for Sherry!

So jury is out...
LOL

It was a tough decision to cut the roof but I am so pleased I did. Really want to keep this authentic and bring this original Devon back to its former glory. With a few modern but justifiable additions. So I did wait until I could get a new Dormobile roof. Now with the interior getting there can't wait to use this bus with the family for the purpose it was designed for! Ferries booked, shows planned - bring on the Summer !
Although as I live on Jersey we get the sun most of the year 8) , that reminds me if you haven't seen the post check out our Aircooled Offshore in Events and get yourself over here.
