Yes I'll be grinding it back to bare metal when I weld to cross members and tops hats etc. But got a few weeks before able to weld it so want to protect it.

Well not a great day as it started with me breaking my brand new Oxford Mig welder torch so couldn't donmy planned welding
Pressed on with other bits.
Can someone confirm I've mocked up the cargo sill strengthener correctly please? I know it's not aligned correctly.
As soon as I get my torch repaired I'll start welding and get the bus on the roll over cage.

Nothing wrong with good weld-thru primer, though not as necessary as in winter...
BigLozzer, see you're cracking on with it (had a line on it it before it hit the Samba. Keith Lee the seller is a good guy, does not play games. Canada still seems to have some good finds....).
Always worth taking a small piece of the bulkhead cross-member bottom section out, to see what they're like inside...since you're doing the cargo floor anyway....

A busy day on the bus sorting it ready for the majority of welding I need to do.
So in order of work.
First to remove front beam, pedal assembly's etc
Railway sleepers
Then attached the roll over jig
Remove spring plates
Test out how much room I need and if two people can roll the bus. Answer yes very easily.
Then position and build up the party tent where I'll get some escape from the rain wind and misses but not Jayfor!
And finally do a small bit of patch welding on the chassis rails. Had issues with my broken gas regulator so another one on Oder with a flow meter. So hopefully will be able to push on with the chassis and floor welding then after OCD and Vintage Nostalgia!

Good progress there Loz, looks a bit different to Sunday. I'll get over and give you hand mate just as soon as Velvet is up for the journey so don't expect me anytime soon! Well done mate.

Wow! Looking good Loz
Just read all this and I'm well chuffed that you're cracking on with it so well. I look forward to seeing you rolling this one out and about in the not too distant future bud. Top work

Some pic updates. Decided I'm replacing to whole lower bulkhead as a panel. But they are currently out of stock.
Laborious chassis repairs which all take time but welding getting better as I go

More pics. Managed to fettle some of the damage done by previous owner trying to hack out the bulkhead

As a Canadian bus the OG owner had a wood burner fitted in the back with exhaust out rear top corner and heater tubes running from rear to front cab area. So lots to cut out and weld up.
