I want OEM tinware! I'd also have to start again as my heads have too small chambers for turbo use. Not selling it all up though, I am keeping one T4 case just in case

Yeah not looking forward to the cooling!!

What Comp are you running on your motor? Glad you are keeping one back, you will succumb!! I will make sure will take you out in the van once its all sorted!

I'm watching with interest but not saying much as I know very little about engines

Got the front 2/3rds Gravitexed today. Leftvthe last third as Ive got the gearbox mounts to fabricate and Im not sure if I will weld them or bolt them yet so didt want to mess up the paint. Everything forward of that I think!!!! is ready! Hopefully!

Was easy to apply and sprayed in a nice dappled effect at 50psi with the gun I had. Will top coat with the epoxy soon.



This was after it flashed dry.

In the meantime my lad was preppin all of the bellypans so that I could get the black epoxy on them asap! He did a great job, good lad!! Got a couple of good coats on them and the Red9 front end as its been modded quite a bit, so needed painting.

Whilst that was all flashing between coats I started to strip the motor to inspect the heads etc, looks promising! They seem to be the new 049 castings and quite new, cant tell 100% yet but if they are I will send the to Stateside to be built up into turbo spec heads. Could be a result!!!



Next are the rear end mods and we will be 90% finished on the chassis ready for build up time!!!! Hehe!

Its massive! Weighs 8kg's too. Should help it move a tiny bit quicker than the stock 36hp motor hopefully

Tiny update, spent a few hours stripping tinware off the Type 4 donor motor, found a nice set of AMC heads on there too which was a bonus, theyre almost new!



Got the 6 Rib box installed too, it sits nice and high in the chassis to give me loads of ground clearance...



Dropped the rollover jig off the back so that I could get the engine in too and measure up for the rear hanger and have a look at where I can put the turbo etc...



Fits nicely and loads of room for the extras, just need to decide where the dry sump tank is going and the ECU box etc.
Then it was time to come home and open my delivery...

Treated myself, finally!

Yeah four years its taken to get to the stage where I can justify buying one! Cannot wait to get started though. Planning on fabricating a dry sump tank as a starter project

I'm sure I can find some stainless I need welding. A nice bespoke worktop with a sink perhaps

I always keep a vase of cut flowers next to my welder to brighten up the cave

Sounds like a challenge, let me get used to the set I have and then I will let you know and you can send me a sketch of what you would like!? Practice makes perfect!!

Ooh hadnt thought of sinks or worktops, good plan, like it...

Yeah I find flowers help me to concentrate more whilst welding, balances the manliness with a little feminine touch, you should try it, maybe a well placed pot plant on the workbench or somethin...

Got a little done yesterday on the bus, so thought I would pop the piccies up. Its not too exciting but its progress.

I rolled the van back over as I am awaiting parts for the gear linkage so cant really progress too much further on the chassis before that finalised as I may need to weld brackets on etc.

So I decided to carry on prep on the topside. My lad helped loads yesterday, it was nice to have an extra pair of hands and some father son time, stripped front panel together first off



Then rear short side



Then decided to start on the rear lights, replaced the RHS with the correct part now, the panel from schofields was a huge help on this one...



Decided to try out the trick Rusty has learned, lard up the whole panel to flat it all in one go, so splat, covered the lot and left it to go off for next time!



Thats all this time, ordered lots of shiny engine parts this week so will be doing a full build log of that as its my favourite area. Crank, rods and a few Turbosmart bits ordered, but have an order with Stateside and the heads are going to Alan at GAC for some magic!!
