Cheers for the encouragement bud! We're getting there.
Had a day on the bus today, suffering with man flue but still got on it and spent a few hrs over the unit. Paying for it now mind!
Finished sealing the underside during the week but not feeling the body work today so got started on the spindles and king pin assembly.
First off cleaned up the bush faces with some emery paper wrapped on a drill, then pulled the bushes in.

Then reamed them though to ensure a nice fit.

Did a trial build and it was a good job I did, found that the German quality king pin kit is not as quality as advertised!
Shall we say the machining is a little inconsistent!

So more delays whilst that is sorted! Still got started painting the rest.

Then on to the torsion bar narrowing.

Managed to cut the other side as well but no pic! That was enough for the day!

The spindle build up continues, once all parts were machined I did a trial run but alas it did not all go to plan it transpires that the dimensions top and bottom differ meaning that the pinch bolt does not line up.
So I had to machine them down, either that or remove the shims as a lot seem to do which wasn't an option for me!
4mm off the bottom on the mill sorted it! Pressed together with shims and seals.
Also chopped the upper torsion bar.
Charge cooler arrived from HongKong!
Brought a little clean up project home, for an evening or two.
Not a full resto just a glass clean and a bezel polish.

Long tlme no update,
Been busy tinkering with various things, been waiting for some new filters for spraying so made myself busy finished the raised steering idler, counter sunk the trailing arms and been blasting and painting parts ready for the big build up.
Next pile ready to blast!
Had a good tidy up got all engine parts required now so assembly can commence soon.
Filters turned up today! So got it all built up and ready to go.
Then spent the next 6 hours with the DA sanding the dash, bulkhead, toolbox, cargo floor, fire wall and inner side panels.
Then panel wiped, tacked and etch primed.
Seam sealer Saturday, then it's high build and more flating off. Oh joy!

Limited bus time today as had to go a strip a loom out of an Impreza this afternoon for my GL 1302s project.
Still got the seam sealing sorted in the cab and cargo floor.
Also started on the blasting pile going to finish that tomorrow hopefully as the boss is working tomorrow night!

Exciting times at Swedish Panel HQ!
Birth certificate arrived the other day!
31st of August is it's birthday. Can I get it finished by then I ask myself?
So with that in mind been getting on with allsorts of jobs to keep things moving! Did some more sand blasting and painting of parts.
Getting gearbox ready for final assembaly.

Gonna give it a go 3 months is a stretch we will see. I'm painting it myself so we will see how it turns out.
Abit more on the gearbox tonight,
Jet washed the case got get all the sand out. First job was to mount the diff and check the bearing preload was ok.

It was in tolerance so dropped it back out. Reverse idler and gear set in tomorrow, then diff back in to check tooth contact and backlash.

Assembled the gearbox today.
Installed reverse idler, and then the gear set installed and checked diff contact and backlash all looked good.
Had to take the box to work and press the circling on the input shaft what a mare that was. Then nose cone could go on.
Will get some paint round it this week.
Quick tidy up then moved on got the engine case on the stand, still have some mods to do on that so that's a job for the evenings next week.
Ha some time so decided to check my chamber CC's they all matched at 42. Some cleaning to do then on to match porting the manifolds.

Busy day today, still working on mechanicals.
Engine case prep first, following the steps on the JMR page clearancing for oil flow and windage.
Pulled all the gallery bungs and tapped them ready to plug.
Next marked the manifolds for match porting.
Stripped the valves from the heads, and made a start on cleaning up the chambers and ports.
Sharp edges smoothed ready for a light polish.
Getting there.
