Fitted one of those non slip mats to the under dash panel as my dam phone was sliding around all over the place













Steering wheel finished off with new centre















Bleeding moody popped over tonight and layer the floor in Gerry ...... Sewn carpet for this area maybe here tomorrow and that will finish it off sweet ..... I'll have the best of both worlds ..... In dry weather I use carpet ..... N wet weather I roll carpet up and we then walk on the black easy washable flooring

What an amazing journey you and Gerry have been on over the last 2 years and now for journeys on the open road

I'm so impressed with your skills and quality of work, well done mate!

So, what will the next project be? You can't hang your tools up now ya know!

Mark I have watched this thread from start to finish for the past two years straight. To be perfectly honest it's the first thing I would check when I turned on the computer every morning and most often the last thing at night. The bus you started with was so poor in its condition and I fully expected to see at best a "fair" daily driver at the end of it, how wrong was I!
The final product is stunning no matter which point you started from but taking into account Gerry's condition to begin with your achievement is even more inspiring. I absolutely love everything you have done to the bus, the colour, the stance, the clever fitment of parts and ancillaries. Your missus did an absolute blinder on the interior and truly made the van. Without question this is the best restoration of any VW I have ever seen and I have been into Vdubs for nigh on 25 years now. The fact that its your first VW is incredible, in that everything is done so well, considered and is so very stylish, timeless even. I hope, like many on this forum, to see the bus in the flesh at Brighton Breeze and come and say hello. I refrained from commenting at all during the build as I just wanted to watch and enjoy the process from start to finish.

Mate this may be your first VW but all on here will whole heatedly agree you a 100% true Vdubber and have created a masterpiece on your first attempt.

Thank you so much for your very kind comments ...... I'm just a guy that does things his own way .... But I always try my hardest to deliver what I can ....... I guy told me something a very long time ago ...

He said ..... " mark your only as good as the last job you did " and ever since that day I've always tried to do things to the best of MY ability.
I'm very proud of Gerry and even more prouder to have discovered the VW Scene and to discovered there are still great people in the world the take there time to help out others.

Mark as mentioned by a few others i too have watched this build from start to finish and didnt want to comment at any time mate as at first i thought you were bonkers ( hence no comments )
But as the time went on and we started to see the way you went about things and the time you have taken on each and every approach to the reconstuction of chassis and panels on Gerry and the love thats gone into bringing back what truly was fit for the scrap man with a few trinkets to hold onto is just jaw droppingly amazing without a shadow of a doubt.

people will go over your thread as i know i will to see again how you managed to make, shape, and create parts that fits with pure perfection and use your skills in their own ways to possibly do the same,

Hats off to you sir and your wife for the interior and i wish you every possible happiness in every adventure Gerry takes you on.

i know its late in the day for this but a big warm welcome to the VDUB scene and i look very much forward to seeing Gerry in the flesh one of these days.

Looks like I got this cruzing bug now ...... If The suns out then we are toooooooo




Cruzed to a friend for dinner


















The boys tried out his Harley Davidson they both had a crazy look in there eyes sitting on that bike eeeeeeeeekkkkkkk I better buy the an old Beatle each so they don't get the bike bug eeeekkk



































Then we hit the road again today and headed off for a water skiing lake not too far from us



















































Sid need to work on his camping chair stability













Again a very relaxing family day ...... And we had a dam good laughter too .....


Had lots of random people talk to me about Gerry over the last few days and some very kind words about how Gerry was looking ..... Made me feel super proud



So now I'm on polishing/ waxing duties getting Gerry ready for Wednesdays vintage car meet with my local club ...... Blacks sheep dubbers ....... And then a few days after that Gerry officially hits the VW scene at VW Action ( sant pod ) ...... Exciting times ahead



Don't think many people (ssvc ) are going that will know Gerry's history and what he use to look like but it will be a interesting day at my first ever show and shine


P.s sorry for some of the pics being poor quality ...... I have got some nice pics on my carmela but these are all from my phone as pc at home needs replacing as its FUBAR ....


And I don't want to buy one and blow money on stuff like that when we now need to think about camping gear and stuff .......
