Lol mark

Short stints in cave over last few evenings and nothing really to show but came together tonight

N/S door outer skin filler work finished, just couple of frame bits to do. Once fitted very happy with the gaps

Image

Finished off the two pop out window repairs

Image

Image

Finished wheel arch, bottom of A post and seat belt fixing

Image

Image

Noticed this on long panel, a little confused as chopped out the rusty bit, treated inner area then but in a patch. Patch wasn't brand new metal but clean, painted inner bit so baffled why it's done this.

Image

Oh well something else to sort grrrrrrrrrr.

Hey Bren,

I've spent the last couple of days reading through you thread and wanted to say wow!! From your first post "After many months of searching & researching realised my limits of what I could achieve" you have come on a heck of a long journey to now be resto'ing your kombi.
I dont know you from a bar of soap but you are an inspiration. Well done buddy and keep going.

Cheers

Thanks Steve for such a compliment & agree wow what an adventure ive had including my family. The whole dream of the bus has done everything and more for us, made some great new friends all over the country. Luckily can turn my hand to most things, learnt so much & its been so rewarding.

Today was job n knock building so hit the cave from midday stripping the paint from the long panel, luckily nothing nasty but the rear corners are another matter on the battery tray joint.

Image

Image

Sods law everyone seems out of stock grrrrrrrrrr

Then filler time

Image

I now know the long panel pain and my arms were dropping off but getting there

Image

Image

Whilst waiting for filler to harden started rubbing down cab area.

Image

And that was me, working days over the weekend so only a few hours each evening but more filling. Luckily a quiet job.

Wow what a day 12 hours rubbing down and no it wasn't fun one bit, well until the end bit when done.. So spent the day on long panel finishing it off, then finished rubbing down around windows ready for primer.

Image

A wee bit of detailing

Image

Achieved with a hacksaw blade and disk

Image

Then some filler work in cab and rubbed down ready for primer

Image

Image

And that was me sore, aching & totally beat.

Got a crafty afternoon in the cave painting the underside of cab in red oxide then back on all 4 wheels for some roof work. Holes drilled in new cab floor for clutch pedal and steering column .

Image

Ground out old seam sealer in gutter rails with 99% of it spot on, a few repairs which were quick n easy.
Image

Image

Also modded front gutter drains so water runs down A post rather than safari, will just stop the qty of water it gets.

Image

That was me as on nights Monday / Tuesday so no updates. :(

Raging lurgy all week has slowed progress and not entered cave till today , still feel crap but plugged away. Lots done but nothing picture worthy as mainly filling, rubbing down and prep work.
Which was no mean feat wearing a dust mask whilst sporting a very snotty nose mmmmm not fun.

Both cab doors finished and ready for paint.
Both headlight bowl's repaired & again ready for paint then can fit.
Cab area detailing & filler work done around radio repair, plus inner window sections.

Next stage is some paint to seal work I've done then roof prep work. luckily roof is good, few little dents but easy enough to make good.
Still waiting for lower rear corners, all usual suspects out of stock :( but happy as repair list is near. its end.

If it could be believed I may of done this

Image

Image

Image

Image

With a tweek of the headlight bowl and made good.

Image

Image

And if I was to get the etch primer out it may look like this

Image

Image

Image

It would be rude not to high build primer

Image

Image

Image

Image

Image

Image

Image

Image

Image

Image

Image

At this stage highlighted a few bits to pay more attention to but very happy so far.

Took advantage as paint was soft so knocked it back which then lost 99% of the sanding scratches. Plan to hit it all again 2-3 more times with high build which will really help to smooth out my errors.

Image

Image

Image

Image

Also got half of roof flatted back

Image

With only damage being theses couple of small dents, result

Image

Gutters looking good to .

Image

But alas none of this happened.

Not lol..
