I think everyone should just wear a shirt with their SSVC forum name on so we can recognise each other.......

There must of been loads of us passing each other all weekend :bounce:

We really enjoyed Busfest, looked like you did aswell.

Look forward to your next update.

Thanks Coop's, was a fantastic weekend with good company. You are right we need to have our names on as we all must pass each other likes ships in the night!

Well not much to report really, been removing the deluxe trim, what a barstool! 47 years without being removed has made the job poo, more rotted screw heads than not, tried tin tipped drill bits to drill the heads off just blunting the bit, tried cobalt drills and cutting fluid did the same so I resorted to a small die grinding bit, works a treat but you need to be real careful because if it slips with the trim being aluminium it eats into it big time! Caught the trim in a few places but the infill should hide that, thee trim although having been painted is in real good condition except on the bottom of the nose where it has been bashed and on the drivers door same again where its been knocked, should straighten OK and I want to use it again as its original, hoping to get a bit more time on it after Wednesday, dam work keeps getting in the way and I'm no where near where I wanted to be with the bus.

laters..........

Just realised that your bus looks like it was originally beige grey over sealing wax red, same as mine. Some one must have then had a load of orange paint going cheap cos mine was also then painted orange!

I am really attached to the van because there is history with it, I need to send Don some pictures but unfortunately there is'nt much to send him, fuming with myself as work is taking all my time up at the moment, times like this when I wish I worked for someone so I get more spare time. I really want to do it myself and not pay someone to do it.

Thanks and appreciated :)

I know exactly how you feel. I sometimes find myself working 6 days - last week for example.

Had good intentions to get stuff done on Sunday but I hadn't seen my friends for a week so just a couple .........

Stinking hangover all day and didn't even leave the flat, let alone work on my camper in freezing cold.

Still there's always this weekend :-)

Time passes so quick, the grotbox is awaiting restoration so I purchased another 13 window deluxe from Jambo above, more pics soon!
I have named him Seabiscuit!

Seabiscuit came with no engine, so a scour of evilbay turned up a 1500 single port, sporting twin 34 icts, fuel tank out, flushed out, rubbed doiwn and painted in gloss black, refitted and engine in with new starter and a service and hey presto he's up and running!
More soon, this started late 2013 and I have only just got around to posting again! Hopefully I won't be as lazy from now on!

Cheers.

So this is how Seabiscuit was when purchased.

Image

A little sea blue popping through the lovely blue metallic paint he had acquired some time in the past!

I wasn't looking for another split but I saw this and fell in love! It ticked the boxes, I have a soft spot for 13 window deluxe's and panel vans, you know how impulsive you can get and we all are continually looking on the internet at buses for sale, parts etc.

It's a 1967 so comes standard with the usual 67 stuff, 12 volt, twin speed wipers, dual master cylinder. Originally a cummulus white over sea blue deluxe, comes with the deluxe trinkets, deluxe trim, deluxe clock, sill spears, bumper corner trims etc, only piece of the deluxe kit missing was the rear ashtray.

I did have loads of pictures but my old phone suffered a meltdown and I hadn't backed it up, DOH!
