Cheers guys, not been on for a while.... Here's a few more pics to bring this up to date, come a fair bit further along since the last pics.
So my mate managed to get my seat frame finished, while I built the engine back up.
Started by chopping the frame where it sits over the tubs, and stepped it using some 4mm plate
Little bit of box section to fix the original mount to at the correct height.
Seat in position.
Used box section to replace the rear of the frame so it all sits level. And some braces underneath to carry the springs without them sagging.
Also welded a bit of plate to follow the profile of the tubs
All done ready to be trimmed
And rather than cutting the springs over the tubs, I clamped a piece of wood the length of the seat so all the springs sat level, then heated them up, let it cool and once removed the seat all sat level.
finished all the mango that needed blowing in.
Tubs done....
Front and both sides done....
Once the seagul grey is on it's time to flat it all back, blend it and I've got a good friend coming from Meguiars UK to machine polish the whole van.

Started blending with some 2000 wet, no polish or compound yet but it's not come up too bad.
And og interior going back in for now until I get a chance to build something more comfortable
We're getting there!

Tyres on, had the wheels powder coated crackle black
Locking shifter (anyone seen one of these before? VW stamped too)
Linkages pedals and cables all fitted
Wheels on
Dropped the back down another spline
Nearly there....

my mates done a ghetto potato sack retrim for now, really pleased with it actually, will eventually be going for a tweed retrim once I build up the rear interior, but this is quirky enough for now.....
And on the trailer on route to its first show....
My mate mick loving it, think I've converted him......
Along side my mates caddy!

And with new tyres on fitted up to the bus
And thats just about brought the thread up to date!!

Really good thread bud, so badly need some success like that on getting my mango paint back looking good. Your mate does some good welding by the looks of things, does he fancy coming down one junction on the motorway to do a little cash job for me on my 58?

Cheers dude. Yeah you wouldn't think my mate was a floor layer lol. He's got his own project to finish welding up now, needs a fair bit more welding than mine did.
