99% sorted now Nigel

Was a complete surprise as no warning given

wheel were checked only a few weeks ago

no paint on wheel holes ...... 7500 miles covered since resto... trouble free and BOOOOM WHEELS FALLS OFF at 45mph

break drums damaged after being dragged down the road for 150yds ..... tyre finished as also got bragged 150 yards .... wheel finished and all holes elongated

Gutted to say the least

BUT FAMILY ALL OK SO THATS THE MAIN THING

99% sorted now Nigel

Was a complete surprise as no warning given

So we was on holiday in Norfolk ... was a love drive there ...3 hour of chilling drive and a lovely camp site




Journey back was a different story .... 36 miles into the return and BOOM........took 10hrs to get home due to the wheel falling off

The recovery man talked the whole way home :evil: :evil: :evil: :evil: :evil: :evil: none stop ....... and all I wanted to do was get on FB and get the parts sorced ....witch I did in the end and a massive thank you to VW Jim for getting me the rear drums from JK

Gutted to see that Mark but happy you and the family are ok!

Had this happen on the M4 a few years ago on the way home from a surf trip. Only thing we could put it down to was foul play as we too hadn't touched the rear for thousands of miles and they suddenly came loose. Only other thing Ive encountered is air tool tightened bolts stretching.

Glad you are ok as I said, and hope you aren't too :( about Gerry.

Really sorry to hear about what happened!
I've been following this restoration for some time... your complete detailed resto gave me courage to get mine started.

Happy to hear that the wife and kids are fine though! That's the main thing! I'm sure you'll have Gerry up and running in no time.

No way that's rubbish. Glad you're all ok though, that's the main thing. Gives you something to tinker with now anyway :-)
