Hi All

So today I was off work ( as I worked Saturday )

So today was Gerry day

So first job was to inspect the bumpers and see what was needed tobe repair on them

Image

Rear Bumper had scratches and a crack ( that I did when I twisted the bumper fitting it after fitting the tow bar ( SSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS )

Image

A high spot that I made again when fitting tow bar my mistake again. ( GGRRRRRRRRRRRRR  0

Image

A scratch that the boys did a long time ago

Image

X 3 chips that I have no idea where they came from as there not stone chips as they are on the rear bumper

Image

Image

Bumpers removed and great to see that everything is all perfect behind the bumper

Image

Image

The front bumper only had x 1 big stone chip in it so no point in leaving it as already going to paint 1 bumper so why not paint two

Still got this to finish ........ Will sort this wile I'm repairing the rear wing ..... I between filler drying times ( ITS ALL ABOUT BEING EFFICIANT )

Image

Bumper all repaired and now they are at the bodyshop for painting so should be finished in a few days

Image

Image

So next is to attack the rear wing damage

Image

Image

You all know me by now and I hide nothing from this thread ... Not even my mistakes as I know we can all learn from these .......

.......So......Another lesson for us all is to make sure your seam sealer work is perfect as I was having a good look around Gerry and found this

8O 8O 8O

How can this be I thought to myself as this is all new metal there .... All new panels complete ..... So why the blistering ..... 8O 8O

Image

So I looked closed and a remembered touching up a small crack in the seam sealer over 2 year ago.

That crack in the sealer would have been letting in water and over time it's attacked the panels .... SO THE LESSON HERE IS MAKE SURE YOU SEALER YOUR PANELS CORRECTLY AND LEAVE NO GAPS

Image

So as Gerry is going into the paint shop I was not about the leave this area to get worse .... So I sanded it all back and there is NO deep attacking rust there was just drown stain on the metal surface ....stuff the DA'ed straight out in seconds straight back to clean metal.... FEW :bounce: :bounce:

The back effect is a quick spray of paint as it started to rain and I have crap everywhere in the cave so could not move Gerry straight into cave ..... I will remove the back paint at a later date and finish of working in this area

Image

Image

So with the weather changed and now raining I had to move Gerry back into the Cave so I stopped work as I'm not prepped to do filler work inside the cave as nothing's Covered as yet ( I'm going to ask one of my neighbour's if I can pop my trailer into they're garage while I repair Gerry ( so fingers Xed he says YES ) :?: :!: :?:

So that's it for now dudes

Over and Out

LOL Steve

I know ..... but my thinking is if I got to paint stuff then I best get him back to 100%

bumper has to come off to paint the rear so why not just paint them too ...

driver side arch to long side panel ..... well thats just a blow in so thats will be done when painting the passengers rear wing

Remember what a do for a living ......so the cost of doing this is small

Don't blame you mark, it's a fantastic van and makes it all the better that it's used. Get it sorted and back in action for the show season ;-)

Haha! We did the EuroDisney a couple of years ago. Even did the trip to the Eiffel Tower. Looks like it was cold when you went too. That must be the coldest, windiest place in France! Never have understood why they put it there and not somewhere warm in Spain???

Anyway, good to see you sorting Gerry out. Won't be long and he'll be purrrrrrrrrfect again

Can you do me a little favour? I would like a photo of the back of the front caliper showing the brake hose arrangement :D

Cheers,

Steve

I just had a little catch up Mark,
Good idea the wedding business, fair play.
shame about the accident but as you say, family all ok, thats the main thing.

nice pics from the shows.

keep up the good work and maybe we'll bump into each other this year.
