Cheers Simon,

The certificate is from the VW museum. They have a record of all cars that left the german factorys. It tells you when your VW was made, what extra's it came with etc etc.

You can get one here. http://automuseum.volkswagen.de/urkunden.html?&L=1

Very helpfull when registering an imported bus.

Cheers

Hey all,

Been a while since I updated this. Still using the bus a lot. Will have to increase the mileage on the insurance at this rate. 8O

Done a few bits and pieces to the bus. Fitted a fire tec system from VW Jim. Hope I never get to use it, but you just don't know what could happen.

Have made a tiny bit of progress on the interior. Didn't take many pictures though.

Collecting materials.

I have completed the ply lining of the back of the bus. All ready to be trimmed and fitted but will need another couple of days to get this finished. Hoping to get it done sometime in March.

Have been helping out friends do their buses using my bus as a mobile workshop. Works quite well. 8)

Got this awesome picture the other day from Kate for my birthday. She's had it put on canvas and is now sitting proudly on the living room wall. 8)

More update once I've finished the interior.

Jeez guys,

It's only a fuel filter. Fitted it there temporarily cause I was suffering with fuel starvation and I can see the fuel through it. It's not much more likely to burst than fuel hose. I know people that have run with fuel filters there for decades and they've never had problems.

Alas, I found the cause of my fuel not getting through and the single piece of fuel pipe has now been re-fitted so panic not.

Need to get out and do more on the interior but work, poorly pets and vets, and life in general is getting in the way.

Hope to get out and play with it a bit tomorrow.

Cheers

You are correct it is only a fuel filter, and one that is not designed to operate under pressure as the weakly glued on cap can fail.

Lots of VWs catch fire each year, generally due to bad fuel lines, fuel filters fitted under pressure or due carb inlet pipes popping off

All very true Paul,

Thanks for the concern everyone. It's only under 6-7psi of pressure at the most when it's idling. It's an old one that I pulled off somebody elses car. Had been on there for years between the fuel pump and carb. Guess it's been glued well.

I had put it on there to find a fuel starvation problem, turned out my T-piece that splits the fuel for the carbs had a bit of something blocking it. Probably from when I changed all the fuel lines earlier this year. Anyway, all sorted now, brand new single fuel pipe between the pump and t piece.

Have you experienced them split before then Paul? I've never seen one. Seen plenty of knackered fuel pipes perished beyond belief and seen batterys cause fires.

Learn something new everyday.

Cheers

Interior nearly finished.

Got a few more bits to do and some neatening up of a few bits but you get the idea. :D

Did quite a lot of sound deadening behind the panels too.

See you at Volksworld those that are going. 8)

So it's been a while since I updated this thread. Can't say I've done much on the bus other than service the old girl and use and use and use some more.

Been all over the place in her this year.

Volksworld Show

Been to Vic Farm for the AGM

Camperjam

Done a number of weddings http://www.dreamvwweddings.co.uk and got a few more to go this year.

Done loads of camping, day trips, just used and used and used her. It's all good and she hasn't missed a beat all year. 8)

I'll let the pics do the talking:

My dogs have been doing well at Agility using the bus as a base when we go away to competitions.

Image

And my bus has picked up a trophy too for "Best Rat Look" at Summer Dubbin. Chuffed! 8)

Too much to list really.

Am on a dilema now as I've got the opertunity to get the bus "Restored" Ie no more big rear wheels and matt paint. Shiny and straight would be the order of the day. But I love my bus. :?

Cheers Rippers. :D

Paul, I have decided, I have a plan in my head. Need to work out exactly what I need and the costs of the parts I require. But at the moment it looks like it's gong to be a BIG change! 8O

MOT passed. Couple of small advisorys but nothing serious. (Gearbox leak and slight play in steering)

Cheers
