Hi guys,

Didn't think anyone had noticed me laying low to be honest!

So updates... Well we've been away as a family to the Alps, first winter hols in 4 years as we have been in limbo with Megs surgery for ages, now thats all done and dusted it meant we could plan and go boarding once again, with a new addition though...

Image

20 months and whizzing along already, by day three she was going solo, doing little turns and everything, made my holiday!

Image

Whilst away (I had wifi :) ) I found out from dad that we have lost our workshop :( absolutely gutted as we've put a lot into it over the 6 years we have had it. So Ive come home with the wind properly knocked out of my sails bus wise. It took me ages to find this place, so I am a little worried. We might have to pop it all into storage with various friends for a while until we can sort something out. Hopefully we will find a place and get setup asap but the bus will be on hold I think until then, sorry guys!

I may continue with the engine build in dads shed as its all setup for that kind of thing already, but Im not sure many of you want pictures of engine builds as they arent that photogenic are they?!? Let me know your thoughts...

Did a little bit the week before we left, managed to sort the turbo placement so I can still fit the rear closing panel, had to plasma a cutout to clear the pipework, and have yet to find an exhaust that works but Ive spoken to Turbo Thomas so am fairly sure we can do something...

Image

Got clearance all round too

Image

Image

Also finished prepping the other doors so painting those when the weather warms up

Image

Sorry guys. Will keep you posted on news etc! Unless anyone wants to swap for a T5.1 ;)

Glad to see you've started your daughter off the "proper" way with two planks……..none of this "boarding" malarkey…..

Cheeky! We all board apart from Fin and currently Sienna, but when they are old enough and have the coordination needed to board (its far techier than skiing ;) ) they will swap Im sure :) :)

Just don't fall over then... :) ;) lol

I love stock too, in fact the wife and I can both ski and own the gear, we just prefer boarding. Same as our buses, we truly respect and appreciate stock, but we always end up modded ;)

Cheers pal,

Good to know!

Yeah losing the shop is a blow but it will get sorted out, just asking round at present to see whats available.

I will start putting the engine build piccies on then if people are keen, and you are right, getting feedback and comments helps keep me going so will do it for that reason too, good call!!

Ta for the encouragement!

Appreciate it!

Bummer to hear about the unit situation. Fingers crossed you get something else sorted and can start up the build again sometime soon

Cheers dude, been following yours for motivation, you make me look awful though, you've done whats taken me 2 years in a few weeks ;)

Agreed on holidays too, Surfing will always be first place, snow is a very close second though.

Got a mini update here for you guys, have had limited time but got a few jobs ticked off the list.

Painted my engine bay bits, the dry sump tank, swirl pot and the tank, all in Satin Black epoxy, came out ok. I may be swapping my swirl pot for a Concept racing one though...

Image

Image

Also managed to get some primer on the rest of the doors. It was far too cold though in the workshop and two days after this photo the paint was still fingerprinting badly

Image

So I had to go out and buy an Infra Red heater, drying slowly now, a panel at a time but at least its drying as I thought I would be stripping it all back at one point...phew!!!

Image

The gear linkage, brakes, hydraulic clutch and throttle cable are all in too... The gears are really positive, a massive thanks to my dad for hours spent on the lathe and miller making all of the linkages and bits to make it like this!!

Image

Image

Thats all stripped now and painted satin black.

So onto the air ride bits, mounted it all on a plinth, and fit it inside the treasure chest now, the tank fits in front and so does a battery so all self contained, the only external part will be the little lcd display under the dash.

Image

We are making progress now.

If it warms up a little I may spray the second colour on but we shall see as the first colour left a lot to be desired due to the weather, it ages quite nicely though...

Image

May get a few hours this weekend, if so I will get some of dads pictures of the engine build too and try to do a combined update.

Cheers for looking guys ;) ;) ;)

Looks like you are flying.

How nice is it that everything you now add to the bus is like a 'new' part, you won't even need to wash your hands anymore! [FACE WITH TEARS OF JOY]

Your thread has been fantastic and your skill up there with the best.

Oh, I hope you measured up every part your dad milled/turned soon you'll be able to sell 'em....

Good luck with your workshop move.

This is another bus I cannot wait to see in the flesh.

Thanks.
