Cheers Rich,
Probably did see you in fancy dress in the Marquee. Hope you had a good stag!

Catch you at another show probably next year now, unless your going to Volksworlds 25th at Brands or Brighton Breeze?

Hey all,
As some of you know, I have an offer on the table for getting my bus's bodywork sorted as in bye bye big wheels, tyres and cut arches.
I have come to a decision for now to keep the bus as it is for at least one more year. I have a huge list of things that I could do with finishing before I even get started on bodywork. I'm also being made redundant next year sometime so it would not be sensible to spend a load of money on paint, panels, wheels, tyres, suspension etc etc and then still have a list of things that I haven't finished.
So Bertha will be staying as is for one more year at least. And we have at least one euro trip planned in her next year too.
Cheers all
Nick

Cheers Debs, don't worry about the redundancy, I can't wait. Fecking orrible place.
Got a spare half hour with the bus today so I decided to fit one of Buttys new fandango throttle linkage kits. Didn't think mine was that bad but liked the look of it and got one off him at Brands Hatch the other week.
The kit.
Very well made. Nice and simple to do.
The old offending item.
New one going on. Only two small mods to make. 1. Cut off half the U shaped bracket that the original pivot linkage fits in. And cut out a small part of the acclerator pedal to clear the new ball joint fixing.
Once it was all fitted and I'd reset the carb end of the cable I took the bus for a spin.
It made an incredible difference!
Ok maybe I had a little slack in my original system but its amazing.
Instant throttle response, really smooth action, return spring makes a difference too.
I reckon I'm getting about 30% more throttle from fitting this. I am now able to cruise uphill at motorway speeds without slowing down.
Thanks Butty. Keep on making the mods.
Cheers

Well,
I've had a whole winter of not having my bus at all. Big empty hole in the garage.
Been using the bug instead to get my aircooled fix but am missing the bus big time now the weather's starting to warm up.
The good news is its been at VW Jim's for the winter. He was developing a LHD steering rack kit and was after a bus to use a a template so I offered my old jalopy for its services.
Fingers crossed I'll have it back in the next couple of weeks. Whilst it's been there I've also asked him to fit a dual master cylinder and a servo so it should stop as well as it steers.
I have also ordered a complete 4" narrowed beam from project 01 which should be ready for me to collect next week. Had a good long chat with Charlie and I'm happy that he's making me what I want.
The reason for the new beam is that I've got a new set of wheels on the way. Was just about to order a set of BTR wheels when some others caught my eye. They will be the 1st set in the UK and are wide 5 fitment. They are absolutely perfect for my bus and I can't wait!
Very very excited about all of this.
Cheers

Are you keeping the flared rear arches and filling them with new wide rims?
I remember you debating whether to return the arches to stock some time ago?

Collecting the bus from Jim tomorrow. Quite excited as I haven't had it since October!
Steering rack not ready yet due to engineering firms prices but I have faith it will be done soon. So steering box still on for time being.
Just been informed that the dual master cylinder and servo are all fitted and working tip top.
Massive thanks to Charlie at Project 01 too. www.project01.co.uk
He has made me a new 4" narrowed beam, fully assembled with everything up to and including the torsion arms and personally delivered it to my house at 8:30pm tonight! Now that's service.
Beam has gone straight in the garage for now but I will take a couple of pics tomorrow after collecting the bus.
Cheers

Fingers crossed my wheels are arriving this week.
This weekend coming up the bus has duties as normal but on the Sunday I am planning to
Fit the full width bed (my 3/4 R&R bed will be for sale soon with all the cushions etc)
Fit the narrowed beam and wheels.
Do the other list of jobs that could do with being done.
Have been using it since I got her back though. Here's some pics.
Dr Nicks VW Clinic. A full day of me working on these 3 buses whilst teaching the owners how to do stuff for themselves. Really great way of doing things as we all help each other out with stuff and get loads done.
Cruise to the supermarket for some provisions for the night ahead.
Stop off in my village for some fish and chips.
Setting up camp for the night at Ecclesden Farm
A cruise along Littlehampton sea front on a nice day
Cheers
