Looks great! Will we be passing thru during OCD for a tour and a snack?

Thanks guys, on behalf of Buzz and John! And of course the wrecking crew a month ago
Mark, Definitely not a Man Cave! Susie will be out here as much as me when it's finished! She's already planning out her stained glass and leaded lights workshop area
I'm having my first go at roofing, ever, this weekend
"How hard can it be"
Then we need to think about doors. Those who remember the early days of this thread will know my cabinet maker chum Tim, and his work building the curved cupboard Devon in the Kombi. (And trusty Winter Trail co-pilot!) I know he's knocked wood butchery on the head now and moved onto other things, but he's very kindly offered to dig his tools out again and pop down to Southampton for a mini break
Proposed garage doors by zombikombi1959, on Flickr
In the beginning, these doors were always going to be black, same as the wood cladding on the workshop, but now the timber looks so nice au naturel I may rethink that. They will be painted though.
Got Susie on board to make the windows, obviously.

I've done a bit myself. Ping plenty of vertical chalk lines to keep the perps aligned correctly, then the diagonals should look good when you're done

A few shots from another busy weekend! Tiles look great, really chuffed with them. Being prewar reclaimed they are rather tired though, so I hope they aren't a false economy and I'm replacing broken ones all the time ...
We used new tiles for the wide edge tiles, the eave tiles and ridge tops, and they are all 'dark red'. They do stand out a little, but I'm hoping they'll weather down quickly. The roof is very mottled anyway as we didn't bother sorting out the tiles. Depending on what side of the roof they came off they are either very mossy, or a more weathered pink.
We're about halfway through it, thanks to some willing volunteers. Cheers!

Right, I've neglected this thread for rather a long time. Lets have an overdue update.
Doors ... We'll Tim very kindly gave me two days of his time to build the main body of the doors. We didn't start well, as is took a few hours to find somewhere that had the wood we wanted in stock, but we were up and running by lunchtime. Having the rack on the kombi was a great help. There followed much measuring, head scratching, more measuring, tea, measuring ...
At the end of two days,( really 1 and a half ) we had two door frames constructed. It felt like the back was broken on the job! I had to finish them off though, so still plenty of opportunity for a cock up yet ..
Rails and styles all cut. The styles are the upright beams, the rails join them together.
I'd only knocked this workbench up a couple of days before! It came in handy though.
Cutting the mortices
And next the tenons
Gluing and clamping it all together ...
Tim's fantastic old clamps pushing all the joints home
Putting in the wooden dowels to hold the joints securely together
A relief, it fits! Tim is well over 6' by the way, these doors are huge ...
At the end of a busy couple of days, two frames completed.
