How nice is it that everything you now add to the bus is like a 'new' part, you won't even need to wash your hands anymore! [FACE WITH TEARS OF JOY]
Your thread has been fantastic and your skill up there with the best.
Oh, I hope you measured up every part your dad milled/turned soon you'll be able to sell 'em....
Good luck with your workshop move.
This is another bus I cannot wait to see in the flesh.
Thanks.

Thanks ever so much for that, exactly what I needed motivation wise!!
Dad always keeps his drawings safe so if anyone want a cable shift 091 box, let me know

Thanks again pal

Cheers Steve, still in awe over your awesome bus, and watching and learning with the wiring etc and detailing too ready for when I eventually get there.
On a separate note Ive ordered the charge cooler rad and a new swirl pot from Concept Racing today. Proper helpful and super highly recommended!!

Cable shift looks great on the box, but what are you using up the front?

The front uses a Porsche Boxster setup complete and unmolested. The idea was that apart from the rear linkage on the box itself, we wanted standard parts throughout rather than having custom cables, custom lever and assembly etc. One because the cost is crazy, the cables alone would have been the best part of £350 and the lever quotes were around the £400 mark!! The Boxster cables and front mech can be picked up really easily so if anything needs replacing its off the shelf bits. The brass bits and stainless all thread will never break so it should be a fairly easy to maintain system. Plus the whole thing cost about £100 with materials

nice one bro.
I'm currently looking at using teleflex cables to complete my set up, available off the shelf for £25 each. I'm using a Renault Megan shifter up front and creating my own linkages to hang off the box out back.

Looking nice. So are you aging your paint then?

Originally we weren't as I went to a lot of effort to get things straight, but after painting it in 3 degree weather outdoors and seeing the amount of work required to get it right with the resulting orange peel etc, plus finding out we are getting booted out of the workshop quite soon We made the decision to get the paint on asap and then age it.
To be honest it suits Vicky and myself far better and we have three kids, we prefer the look, its just that 'fake patina' has a real stigma attached to it, that was the reason we decided not to do it originally.
I hope to do it tastefully, we will see

I'm finding myself in a similar position with a nice straight bus but limited funds and facilities to move it on so am considering the fake patina route.
Half of me thinks it'll be a shame not to be honest about things but then a usable bus beats a primered shell sat in the garage.
I'll be really interested to see how you can get it looking and how you do it.

Well a cancellation at work meant a day at the workshop so I decided to pull my finger out and do a job that will really motivate me. Trouble is it also frightens the life outta me!!
Heres what happened though...
Lots of masking, I suck at this bit so was nervous to say the least...
Warmed things up a little in the engine bay as it felt a little cool to the touch...
And then hit it with the t'other colour
The engine bay was difficult as I dont have a small gun, space is tight to say the least, saw one run as a result but hey it'll sand out...
Waited a while, seemed like ages and then...
and
I am WELL happy! The colours are spot on and its definitely given me the needed kick up the preverbal!! Roll on next workshop day then I get to sand back all my hard work and make it look old and dull! Hooray!!
Im chuffed

Looks fantastic
It's a lot nicer working on a painted bus.
Now get your finger out and finish it

Cheers guys, yeah cant wait to start building her back up, started to sort bits out already. Exciting.
Took the masking off the engine bay today, happy with it.

Masked most of the windows off, the cab area and the tailgate hatch so I can spray the rest of the seagull grey but decided to hold fire spraying until Ive stripped the door tops as I can do those at the same time.
May be up there Friday evening as the evenings are lighter so I can carry on a bit longer, see how work goes.
