New garage/workshop project for the Zombi Kombi!

Work starts, several weeks (months!) later, on the panelling ...
This was my dpeartment, so the cock ups starting coming in thick and fast on this one. I ran out of t&g twice. Yes, twice ...
And despite measuring twice, and cutting once, I managed to get the t&g half a plank out on the second door, so they did not line up. It bugged me a little, as I had tried so hard to get this right, but I'll be honest, I struggled to visualise the doors together and in place. (Had I room to lay both doors down together in situ it would have helped me)
I ended up being 180 out, or something ... There was a strong argument for going back and lifting all the nailed in planks on one of the doors, and recutting them properly. In the end I decided I could live with it. I am NOT a perfect person, and this is me accepting that. It was hard enough getting this far!
Then I had to work out how to do the window frames. I winged it here. They turned out pretty good actually, I'm hoping when Susie gets around to doing the leaded lights using recycled 1930's glass it'll work out how I planned ...
Spot the schoolboy error
Working out what size to make the window and where to position it in the door ...
Proped up in place. yep, those windows are exactly how I'd hoped they'd look!

Next job, hang the buggers! I was out of my depth here, so called in help. We had very welcome unexpected Dutch guests pop round as well, I don't think they expected to be put to work! (Thanks Arnold
)
Anyway, a couple of evenings and we got them in fine, no problems. I had originally bought 18" hinges, but when we offered these up to the doors we realised they were way too small. These are 24".
And sorting out the bracing behind the window frames ...
Well, as always, a Work in Progress. Hope you don't mind this diversion from all things Split in here.

After much debate (not by me, I was always going to do this) paint has gone on! First couple of coats of undercoat. Paint colour was a difficult choice for me. I had a lot of mid century, fairly bright 50's colour pallate in my head -

And this was a strong contender ... (It's 50's a cigarette 'box'!)

Anyway I didn't pick any of these. I went for a colour I found on a scrap of old panelling I pulled out of a skip at a recent visit to Autocraft
B&Q stuck it in the scanner and matched it exactly for me! Very similar to the green above, just a shade darker.
I can't wait to put the gloss on, as soon as it stps raining!

Taken on a grey day, so they look a little dull here. They ping more in the sun. Still not convinced it's
the colour, but it'll do.
