A busy night shift meant a slow day so not to make mistakes as tired.

Fitted rear valance & polished up engine hatch, got this all built up and fitted but managed to lose striker plate so a bit cheesed.
Then made a start on building bumpers fitting some over rider rubber .





And boom trix got re badged although fitting the 10mm nuts with dash all built was a real test for the finger tips,, yep two nuts were lost into the valance oblivion.



San got busy cleaning up the seats so can get these fitted later in the week..

Next up insulate interior.

Cheers Steve, make it we should but will be busy right to the wire. Still need to get a shake down run so hopefully no issues. Apprehensive though on what natural light will show on my paint, more the blue due to mechanical polishing.

Insulation wise will be foil board & 25mm celotex. Different trades have there own brand but realistically all the same and best style of insulation, well is for building.

Zonked. Feels that way now mark not helped by current building renovation I'm on is at the end and going manic as usual trying to get finished.

Should be on insulation tonight with just a temporary floor for now and old unit back in.

Finished shift quick supper and straight in the cave doing a temporary lino until we find time to sources new one, finished of with a simple aluminium strip to protect edge.





Insulation taking shape, thermal capacity of foil board is great so all sections will be done.



Even managed to line up writing, lol luck more than judgement.



That was me for tonight, tomorrow eve is get the cabinet back in and possibly last 3 pop outs.

Sunday though is shake down drive, boy I can't wait..

Everyone does realise Celotex absorbs water? I realise the amount of water that will get there is small, is there an alternative to Celotex that is closed cell and non-absorbent? Perhaps the amount of water is small enough to not matter - or just make sure the Celotex does no sit on anything that may collect water. Are you adding a plastic membrane on the inside as well?

I did not.... but that was the thing I chose on..

I just used 19mm Armacell sheet which is closed cell nitrile rubber as a non absorbent sound insulation foam.
It is supposed in a roll and has sticky pad attached on one side.
One roll was just enough for whole bus..
Not cheap but I had seen it used on high capacity high volume dirty cell air extraction and it quietened that down really well stopped the drumming as well as the broad range of noise..
Amazing stuff used in the extraction and ventilation industry.

Agree fully submerged it will eventually absorb water but in the side panels is no worries. My view no different to a ventilated roof which is its normal use. Already had some in side panels for several years prior and dry as a bone. Wouldn't bother though in cab doors.
Had not planned any membranes over the top of celotex. Was thinking though to do something on cab doors to save door cards as had water poor through in the past.

I extracted some Celotex from my bus that the previous owner had put in. Some that were against the floor were definitely moist (and a rusty colour) on the bottom edge. Agree the upper pieces were bone dry.

I think a plastic membrane over those panels might be good - especially if you sleep inside the bus a lot. Help keep the moisture out of the hidden recesses.

I fitted Armacell sheet glued to the insides of the panel apertures.
I then used double sided sellotape tape and 1000 grade polythene sheet everywhere that there is an interior panel over an aperture where there is an outside skin, so cab doors, cargo doors, short side panel, long side panel etc.
Strangely not behind the kick panels.
I have armaflex behind there but not glued in and no plastic sheet...maybe because as expected these have been on and off for wiring and relay rearrangements.....not for a while though...
I used a while roll...
I fitted 4mm gold under floor sound insulation sheet under the 4mm ply and 3mm silver under floor sound insulation sheet under the over engine board. I cut strips to go in the hollows behind the rear seat board. Stuck with double sided tape.
I have a Caravette with rear drawers and I cut two panels of armacell to sit on top of the hardboard panel under the drawers and two shaped infill pieces for down the sides.
It seems to be quite effective.
