Hi Griff55 . She was blasted at
http://www.sodablastingltd.co.uk/ in Bilston West Mids. Good service and no scene tax. They primarily blast classic cars. I'm still trying to to get in the garage.....

You're getting on well. With regards to the handbrake the easiest way is to cut through the pin and then sort it out on the bench.
You really need to get a rollover jig next. It will make your life so much easier and you'll do a far better job.
Trust me

Hi Steve yes I've still not done the handbrake but plan to do as you advise. Rollover jig is a bit of a problem! Don't have the space. I do plan to roll the whole thing out and raise the front of rear as required to get better access. Meanwhile summer and family offer other distractions! More soon hopefully ! J

Hi all taking a look at the engine and buying panels from AHS! Engine open and found this ..... Hole in the valve so any betting on a bent conrod or even crankshaft damage?

So while I ponder the engine I'm looking forward to Sunday at Busfest. Picking up this little bundle from AHS! Bring on the winter nights and garage time!

Good day at busfest. Lots of nice vans, what's with the 55k split in the vehicle sales!
AHS metalwork looks good thanks! Already trial fitted the WW floors. If only it was that easy!

So a question. I have access to the underside of the b and c posts can I get the door hinge screw plates out? They giggle nicely with a screwdriver from below, I have two stubborn screws? Thanks

Others will surely put me right but I seem to remember the "nut plate" being captivated so you'd have to open up the side of each post to get at them. I had a couple of stubborn ones but carefully drilled them with a progressively larger bit and managed to free them and get the remainder out. I believe they're 8mm. If you start in the centre you should be able to go to 6.5 or possibly 7mm without damaging the thread.

Just looking at the engine rebuild. I'm having it rebuilt. It's bust a hole one of the pistons but the case looks ok so looking at a reasonable rebuild with new barrels and pristons etc. One head cracked so looking to replace these as well. It's SP 1500 (1966) so a any thoughts please, upgrade to 1641 from VW heritage etc, and stick on TP heads which I have the opportunity to get. Also looking to get an OG refurbed carb from someone like riverhaus . Thanks in advance

Wow can't believe it's been 10 months since my last post. I have not done a fat lot in that period. Just after getting the engine rebuilt the engine in my bay went pop so I had to get that rebuilt. I'm trying to get motivated to get stuck into the welding. A quick trip to busfest has hopefully helped. Here is my inspiration van.
Anybody else had a big break in their resto? What got you back on track?
