Thanks Geoff, I'm just waiting on delivery of the bolts and brackets. It's just the shape of the plate I can't work out with it's little slots. You're probably right mate, it'll become to clear when the bolts and brackets arrive I guess. It's not holding me up so that's a good thing and I can do it last thing after the panels go in. Plodding on.......................

Lovely bit of OG paint in the arches. Underside all cleaned apart from fiddly bits around gear box. Red oxide and etched before sealant. Black stone chip to finish but not on the OG arches!
One of those days today where you get filthy dirty, neck ache, caked in seam sealer and feel like you've made little progress. I hate seam sealant. Gotta be done though. Still got to seal cab end of bus but I'll do that when I drop the beam out to slot the stock one back in. At the same time I'll fit the dual brakes.
Kinda feel like I'm flipping between jobs but I guess it's just this stage of the 'project' as I'm waiting on a few bits to arrive. Still a way to go!

Sunday afternoon getting gunk off the beam and jetting it off. Good clean up for the fuel tank too. Deep joy.
Both ready for ready protecting tomorrow and if all goes well I'm going to get the old beam off, clean up the bottom of cab area, seam seal, protect it all and reinstall the new stock beam.

Now that was a dirty day! After masses off penetrating fluid the beam bolts finally freed up. And a load of hammering I should add.
The gear shift rod was also totally fried on so needed a right whack and jiggery pokery to get it out for between the beam.
Then there was the clutch cable. Couldn't release the front clip so ended up taking off the rear butterfly screw thingy and dragged the cable kicking and screaming through the tube.
Lowered the old beam out and got out cleaning, sealing and protecting the cab area underneath.
Then it was back on with the new old stock beam. Two jacks later and more pokery and the beam is in.
Got the wheels back on and lowered her down and guess what - it looked exactly the same height - looked underneath and forgot to take the axle stands out. Classic!!
Axle stands out and my bus is now stock height as she left the factory. I'm well chuffed and it looks so much different. Still got to rig up the steering and put it all back together but that was a solid 6 hours work.

Very nice, and the best bit is it's mostly cleaning up what you have, a nice original Bus

Not much progress due to work but done a few fiddly jobs. Refitted the clutch cable, what a mission that was as I knew it would be!
Then fitted the dual brakes master cylinder and plumbed in new front brake pipes. Does it look right????
The instructions say 1/8 inch play in the rod before it engages the plunger. Does that mean as the brake pedal is pushed just 1/8 inch it should engage the plunger at this point?
I just can't seem to adjust the rod enough to get the right amount of play. Have I got that right?

Looking good mate. You've done really well to get all the work done and on your own too. Be a nice usable bus when finished.
You'll have to come over and help sort project x (Mango)

Ah maybe I'm getting ahead of myself. Full brake overhaul not done on new beam yet. She's having new cylinders, shoes and hoses etc on the front so that'll be done shortly. Also got some new front shocks to go on too. Nice comfy ride!
Only recent bad news is I may be losing my unit!!! That leaves nowhere to finish so need to get cracking and get her on the road. I have got a garage at home but it won't take bus plus all my gear.
Off to unit today

.............and cheers Loz. Just make sure you don't lose your loose change through them holes in your pockets. You're going to need that money for X. Then again I heard Geoff offers very good terms on his payment plans so he may help you out..............
Off to see the farmer now on way to the bus to check out the status on the unit. Watch this space...............................

Today's jobs:
Middle and rear seat brackets welded in. Trial fit of seats!
Repair done to rusty pop out catch hole.
Welded accelerator pedal hinge into place.
Pearl whited the cab area.
Velvet greened the outside.
Primed and pearl whited the pop out frames.
Got to post some technical questions about accelerator pedal and seat clamps but a good day today. Ive decided to get my rims shot blasted and pearl white at the same time I fit the correct tyres.
Still quite a lot to do but I'm getting there.
Then I came home and painted the downstairs toilet and glossed woodwork. Now I've got an appointment with San Miguel!!!

For a minute there I thought you were a workaholic, then I realised with the San Miguel your an Alcoholic
Why is this Bus taking so long to get on the road ? It was supposed to take a couple of weekends and tighten up the ' Four Bolts ' and she'd be away ..........
Seriously...........great job
