Took off all the factory e-coat from the load bed today, treated the metal, then a coat of primer to match the rest of the exterior.

Didn't feel fast yesterday, that e-coat certainly didn't want to come off!

Bodywork wise the next is the final welding. The closing panel to extend the cab bulk head down to the floor. I wanted to keep the OG panel sequence rather that the "repair panel" sequence, hence why there's still welding to do after painting has started. And mockup / adjust the cab door alignment. Not looking forward to either of those jobs.
In terms of mechanical items. Gearbox will go in, once I've found a replacement main bolt. That then allows testing of the hydraulic clutch. A-arms to measure up the required axle lengths.

e coat..
Electrophoretic deposition by charging the panel to attract the paint ......is used...or maybe was used to coat panels and complete car bodies...
It sticks like...to a blanket...but you are wise to remove this and treat the bare metal...because it can be hiding rust under the e coat..

More bits plated. This time yet another gearbox main mounting bolt, engine / locker lid stay bolt and door striker plates.
Last coat of high build primer over the load bed & bulkhead. Top colour coat tomorrow, hopefully.
