Got to get cracking now and get her on the road. Few photos to update what I've been doing yesterday and today. Accelerator in, brake and clutch pedals in, steering box in and wheel refitted, gear stick refitted, front bumper off and made good/paint blend valance, paint blend back round steps and dog legs, silent coat throughout all panels, original salt n pepper interior panels fitted and pop out frames repainted for better finish than I had.

Lots of little jobs still to do but she's looking like a bus for sure now.

Well done mate. You seem to get loads done in a very short space of time. It's looking really nice now and I bet it drives really nice too. I loved the door shuts and closing lines on that bus.

I've started welding, just not on my own bus!
Welded that repair panel into Project Y engine bay for a certain yard owner ;) Speamding all weekend on mine this weekend so hope to have some progress to show.
Catch up soon.

Cheers mate, trying to plough on now although I don't think I'll get an MOT with no front seats so I dragged them out and just trying to fine a good Essex based upholsterer. Let's hope they're not busy!

Let's hope she drives nice too - not even looked at the engine yet!

Looking forward to X mate as she comes along. He only said that's a half hour job on the engine bay so you've no excuse really.

Anyway make sure you do a decent job. I love them 50's beauties and Geoff's promised me first dibs........at least in my mind that's what he said :D

Only a couple of hours today so cut out the front screens to work out what repairs need doing and had a play with the headliner.

Screens have gone in and out so need to fabricate some pieces for the inner lip and get the outer section ordered. This is not mot crucial stuff but I don't want to be driving around with leaky screens and it looks rough too.

Then toyed with the headliner just to see how it goes up. Nowhere near being fitted but it beats it laying around in the unit getting dusty. Needs a good clean up mind but that can wait.

Surfing in Croyde this weekend on a boys weekend away so a nice little break 8)

Work and family stop play! So apparently 4 kids and a greyhound isn't enough. So we now have a Jack Russell puppy. I should point out that there was no consultation period over this decision but to be fair there wasn't over my bus either so you can't grumble.

I've got 0 time over the next couple of months so whatever time I do get I've gotta crack on.
Today's work:
The issue is I've lost the inner lip that rises from the dash to corrosion. This means a fabricated strip along the inner section as I can only get the outer section apparently.
I guess this job wasn't a must for an mot but you dont want corroded front screens. So lots of cutting and banging today.

Next job is to order the new section, fab the inner lip, cut final pieces of metal out to fit in new section and then get her welded up.

Pop outs in. Nice n easy with some marine lube I use on my boat. Average 30 mins per window I reckon to do all seals and fix it in.
Fuel tank cleaned and sprayed and engine overhaul well underway. Few more bits to go on then it's tank back in and engine bolted back up. Image Image Image Image Image

Wow! You are in touching distance of the finish line. Pop outs look good. You'll be driving the velvet within days!! Get that engine in.

Cheers mate, still got to get the front screen repaired so not quite there yet but she's not far off. Lots of little jobs to do too like finish and test brakes, check all the electrics, install new lights front and rear for MOT etc. Got a little foreign trip for a week coming up so should come back recharged for the final push to the line!

Brakes all done and working, new pipes all round, electrics almost there too (cue ugly UK rear lenses for mot!), new front shocks fitted, engine and fuel tank in and front windscreen repair complete.
Well chuffed with the light housing up the front, nice condition original metal nice and solid.
Getting close now.....................

Fantastic progress mate. Did you take any pics of your windscreen repairs prior to paint and glass in? Looked a differcult section to repair.

Engine may and front beam looking lovely. You've managed to keep as much OG paint as possible and looks the nuts.

Sorry mate no photos I'm afraid - confession time - this repair section was done by a pro. I was confident of the outer section but it was the inner lip of the dash I was concerned with. That plus lack of time so I've outsourced the first bit of metal work on my bus which isn't too shameful at this point of my restoration. I'm at the point where I'm getting a few of the last bits done for me as well as cracking on with some myself. I reckon I could have her MOT'd before the end of the month if I do it this way. :bounce:

Mate it is very difficult to repair the damage you had so I don't blame you. Be great to get it mot'd at the end of the month giving you some summer time to use it.
