Looking good Jon, top work and pleasing to see :) The engine was a low mileage original VW one when I sold it. It was from a commercial single cab with a rev limiter.

What colour combo you going for?

Hi op
I love the fact I can get all this info on the bus from years gone by.. When did you own it to and from?

The engine is certainly sweet...high compression on all cylinders and actually drove the bus into my garage despite having been say for 4 years. Just needed a tinwear clean and some new rubber bits here and there...

Colour....well that is the great debate. Given the cargo door canopy is red stripes and the front seats are nicely covered in red, which under the grime is is fine condition, I think it's going to be white over red...but what red I don't know...I rather like the red it came to me in tbh!

....a bit boring to do all this work and then paint it the same colour?!

Good to hear the engine's still good. It had about 30k original miles on it when I got it from a mate. I just popped the Weber twin choke on and it buzzed around the country lovely :)

I never really looked into what the original colour was as I liked the Sealing Wax Red and Beige Grey and the engine bay was painted so didn't bother me too much as it was correct for the year. If I was spraying it today I'd be finding the original colour ;)

The door canopy is ace and original and was in good condition. The seats where recovered by an old retired classic car upholsterer in Newquay when I was living there. The circle mark is from the steering wheel nut as we heated it up to remove the wheel to get the box reconditioned and it popped off and in typical fashion ended up on the newly cover seats, ggrrrrrr!!!

Surprised the seats came up well, they looked dreadful in the ebay ad :/

Are you going to put the water tank back on underneath? Bit of a rare beast that, not seen many in my time :)

I'm not sure I'd like to take a drink from that water tank so it will remain safely in the shed but no plans to refit it, plus the brackets had almost rusted away.

What's also rare it seems is the short metal legs on the table, making three sets of legs...most tables I see have only two sets of wooden legs.

Wetjy....great job atbthe blasters, it's like working on a new bus now!..I've been following your thread, great fabrication skills, makes everything you do twice as complicated compared to what I'm doing !

Also quite rare to have a complete table, most have been cut down as they're bloody heavy things. Yeah the 4 small legs are an odd thing. Maybe to give the table more strength when used as a bed to get kids into the bunks. Or maybe as a coffee table outside? I love the CP set up, best conversion by far :)

I never used the water tank either ;) I did have plans to get it cleaned out and lined but never got round to it. It would probably weigh a fair bit when full :o Are you going to re-cut the filler hole on the floor and put the plate back? :)

I think the cp is a great conversion too...three or four different bed configurations.

I've got the ally plate that goes in the floor for the water tank but I don't think I can bring myself to cut a big hole in my 680 quid klassic fab cargo floor!!

Ps, did you get a chance to dig out that heater y piece you mentioned?

Have you started tinkering with the trailor?

Aloha Jon!
Looking good there as usual
I have to say that if I were you I wouldn't be putting the tank back underneath as you're unlikely to ever use it and I certainly wouldn't be cutting the access hole in my spangley new floor 8O
Looking forwards to seeing the build up start 8)

Cheers, Lee.
