Yippee...Finally Started 13 Window Restoration

Yippee...Finally Started 13 Window Restoration

by vwdave » Sat Mar 22, 2014 11:34 pm
Hi all, I've finally started on the restoration of "Dave" our 13 window deluxe. It's a late August 63 (17th Aug) bus, so I think it's on of the first 13 window's? So I might need a hand I think they used parts from both years? I'm also looking to put a Devon interior in him. Anyway, I'm a complete novice, so here goes.............

Happy days

Not sure if I'm using the right discs, work well, but don't last long, any recommendations?

Wow looks the same as my 13 window. If you have a grinder I'd use the same type of stripping disc you have but on the grinder. Did my whole long panel in 20 mins with one on mine.

Mines hopefully off for paint next week, dig deep mate and crack on.

Thanks Grant, yeah, I've got some on order, it's all the books and crannies that are are a pain. Shouldn't complain, still pinching myself that I've got a splittie to do up. Look forward to seeing your bus back from the paint shop. Good luck with the build.

You may find there are different shape and size wheels which you can have attached to a spare drill which will help with the nooks and crannies. Stripped Dad's 1933 Morgan down to nuts and bolts with two drills and ten different wire brush attachments - lots of tube steel, roughly cut edges and heavy pitting so a real pain getting every ounce of rust out of every crevice but one of the most satsifying things to look back on now it's in paint. Keep it up.
