1959 23 Window Samba Resto. Started.

I have now started the ball rolling on my 59 deluxe, For those taht are interested this is for me and my family our dream car and one we never thought would come.
So a bit of background, with the edition of a new nipper our beloved 54 SC had to move on. I never wanted to sell it but it was the kick in the bum needed to go out there and start searching for a samba more importantly one we could afford.

With out going into the niff naff of the deal we drove away from an essex barn loaded with what was a tidy looking , semi resto semi botch job.

Smiling all the way home we envisgaged being on the road with it in a month or 2 after seat belts, tune up and remedial break work.

On closer inspection the bus was hiding things we could just not see, years of patch jobs, botch jobs and just poor workmaship hidden by glossy paint, filler and blaggers magic. all of a sudden our tune up and go has exploded into a full restoration.

Now, The man in charge of this magical transformation? Bob, of resto haus fame!

Bob has now taken over the project and is proerbly one of the nicest and genuine blokes on the circuit. (discount needed for shameless plug)

anyway enough waffle i shall now over the resto upload step by step pics showing the transformation back to the way it should be.

Stand by .........................

Looking better! At this point it was stripped further and loaded on to the rotisserie.
Next day was sand blasting whic revealed a little more of the previous owners work.
It's quality let's say was Johnny age 5. ..........tbc

I believe so, it was advertised as restored But in reality it was just all a big cover up. I knew it had issues but the the price was right. I was going to walk away but the wife kicked me and said buy it

Will be really nice when you get it sorted. Good investment I reckon. Great family motor unlike the single cab.
Looking forward to the updates.
Ps. Standard height

Some of the holes found when stripping, the van has had a coat to keep the rust away while the works carried out.
