Orbs Samba Update

by orb » Fri Jun 25, 2004 3:00 pm
Hi all
Just thought I;d let you know how my Samba is coming along.
I bought the van as a pretty good condition runner earlier this year with plans to make it into a daily driver.
The work I've had done since includes;
Propex heater (thanks Julian B)
Creative IRS
Creative wide five drums
Toxic shocks
Cogbox built box with welded 3rd & 4th, 4.125 R&P, strengthened side plates etc etc.... new clutch
CSP disc brake kit and dual circuit system
EMPI quick shifter
Twin Dellorto 40's, merged header and single quiet pack
Java Raders with 145's and 185's
Toons :D basic stuff at the moment but a serious set up waiting to go in once I can find someone to build me an interior!
Nearly there as a daily driver now, it's going into Southern Carbs soon to be rolling road set up in readyness for a 2 week trip to the south of France in July.
Future plans include a new interior, a large engine (run out of funds just now!) and eventually paint but that's the last thing I'm worried about as this is a hot rod bus not a show queen.
You can find some piccies here -

Hi guys - thanks for the kind words - guess you like them wheels then :D
I fought long and hard to justify spending that much on a set of wheels but the results were worth it.
Like all vans it's still on-going with lots of future plans, I'll keep you updated as and when.

Malc - it's running great mate, you got it spot on - thanks again - can't wait to see what it's like when I get it back from the rolling road!

Cheers
