So today was a mixed bag... Dentist, school runs and family car too and from garage so I squeezed a few hours in at the cave!
Had to mount 6 switches (all will become aparrant!) and I may need 7.
Measure and cut wee holes for wee speakers!
Fitted.
All done.....
All will be revealed tomorrow! Hopefully!!!

So I needed 7! Lol.
Managed to finish the LED strip lights under the seats,
One over the cooking area,
And one for the main light,
These LED's are so easy to wire and cut to length! I'm using them in my split in future!
With everything powered. (the water pump is the one that's off!)

So!!!!
Got the Sandy (samba/Dandy) and hooked up at 10am ready to go to Dubtricks for the wiring...
Arrived at DT ok and started doing little bits and Jez started on the wiring. We noticed the battery wasn't full, so a quick check.... Alternator done for.
GSF for a Bosch £126.
So took all apart (alternator, stand, carb linkage, tinware, etc.....) sanded down and painted new one black, fitted it all back.
Went to tighten pulley nut.... SNAP! Alt shaft snapped! Called GSF and they said they'd exchange but couldn't deliver!
So yet again, strip down to get broken one off!
So.... 2hrs later I arrive back at DT with a new Alt. AGAIN!
Sand down, paint black.
Fit all back together again!
I then fit it all back together and as I was spinning the shaft to listen for fan rubbing.... Guess what I saw.....
The blooming Woodruff key!!!
SO ALL OUT AGAIN TO FIT!!!!
In the mean time Jez is doing the electrics on Sandy, and without a box of magic tricks from Peter Good. Going from uk spec 2 bulbs to US spec one bulbs is near impossible! 3 relays on each side! So we found some retro Landy lights to use as indicators! Pics to follow!
Anyhow, 2nd Alt now painted black and fitted, all back together and see if she fires up and charges!
Charges good... But where the
is all that oil coming from? Looked like above the barrell.
Err......
Ok ok, this is getting a joke! It's now 1am and now the engine has to come out!!!
By this point I didn't know to cry or laugh!
So engine out and strip down.
Turns out the rubber gasket on the base of the oil cooler had somehow moved so oil was pumping out!
So fit new....
It's now 4am! And Jez looking a little miffed!!!
So all back in, hitch up trailer and a few tweaks with the electrics and ready to go....
Got in at 5:27am!!!
Words can't express my gratitude towards Jez and Lou, such amazing people and so generous!
Vw's hey!!!

sounds like a nightmare
,
(i popped on to search for some experience/ideas of locating solar panels, your trailer looks prime for one on the top - would give the alternator some relief too?)

So I snuck a few more hours in the other day. Got some rattle cans made from Bradford paint finishers and started on Sandy (Milla called it that as Samba/Dandy) and all went well. Not a great finish but windy in the cave with rattle cans!
Proper paint shop!!! Lol.
So hooked up.....
I've chosen to go with caps as I'm skint!
Still waiting on the deluxe trim for the side but think the 2 offers that we're given ain't showing so will have to buy new.
Talking to a trimmer tomorrow about making a cover the same colour as Faiths interior. We shall see.
How Faith looked yesterday!
A re re re re that's all folks!!!

So I finally managed to get some trim after weeks of searching!!!
I actually found it down the side of my house when I come to sell an engine I had for someone!!!
only been there for about 2 years!!!
So.......
Measure, cut and fit!
Then do it for all pieces.....
Abrasive pad wipe....
Soft finishing pad with Autosol....
Then onto Britemax kit....
Hard to see shine but it's like glass!!
The kit.....
Now off to do all the rest!!!
