2332cc turbocharged/EFi build plus nitrous

2332cc turbocharged/EFi build plus nitrous

I got a little bored last month so I thought a good idea would be to remove the 2332cc motor, completely strip it, sell the 48s I.D.As, The case and the linkage and go and buy a CB hideaway EFi turbo kit.
I went for the 48mm throttle bodies t3/04 garett hybrid turbo upgrade (up to 450bhp) competition -E manifolds/pressure covers to suit my super flo heads, 55lb injectors with a 52lb turbo map.

It has the loom to suit my MSD 6al but I will need to add the MSD boost retard box and dash control to stop it melting the engine in short terms :)

Ive also ditched the billet wastegate for a turbosmart wastegate (which will have a gated boost control on the dash) and a turbosmart BOV (blow off valve) which apparantly are the best on the market.
I got the wastegate new of Ebay at a steal of half the price and the BOV also but this is used, These are not cheap but they are an essential part of the system.

I need to fab a muffler system for it too as it comes with a straight thru pipe off the turbo.....loud!

The wastegate

I removed the fuel tank and flushed it out to make sure it was super clean.Fitted the return fuel valve T piece in place of the original as turbo fuel systems bleed off fuel back to the tank.
Gave it a spruce up while it was out.

The wiring loom for the EMS, MSD, and all the sensors.

I fitted the moosive turbo fuel pump and filter today.
These have a huge 1/2 inch hose connection which will then connect to the fuel rails with smaller 'down step hose', This helps with pressure build I guess.
The smallest hose will be in the return section of the fuel system after the fuel pressure regulator.

Jenvey look similar, just the electrical connection on the TPS is different to what is sold over here.

Had a right game trying to replace the TPS on Trevor's setup as the connectors are all different.

Ahhh - I've been looking at their stuff this weekend - did you buy components or one of their kits?

I met a mate at the ACE who's fitted a couple of the kits to customers cars recently (including a turbo install) and he swears by them, easy to fit and work out of the box.
There does seem to be quite a few choices but I'm liking the prices

I got one of their kits 8) , Everything is there down to the last nut and bolt.
The instructions are a little vague and are for 'all' of their set ups but if you have a mechanical understanding and common sense its easy enough.
A few things will need doing like getting the header ceramic coated as its raw at the min and it has a 3 " open pipe for an exhaust! not sure the M.O.T man will like that.
I will change a few hoses for better braided ones too.
I got the quicktune set-up too but havent read up on tuning that much yet 8O looks daunting !!

If the instructions are a little vague then have a look on the website - there are incredibly detailed installation instructions (I know because sadly I spent a lot of time reading them! - http://www.cbperformance.com/ultracomp.asp ) which make it all look pretty straight forward (even for me!)
I guess what attracted me is that it's £1000 cheaper than what I've been quoted from the UK and with the quicktune system you can be up and running pretty fast with no dyno time and you have the option to fine tune it on the dyno and create custom maps if needs be.

The guy I was chatting with the other day who's just fitted one said it was a doddle to fit and fired up and ran very well first time - can't ask more than that I guess.

Make sure you keep us updated, very interested to see how it turns out

Those instructions are for CB perfs old dash mounted 4 or 2 knob injection kits.
Although very similar its not the instructions that you use with their newest kit.

http://www.cbperformance.com/pdf/QTEFII ... Manual.pdf

Mind you there were a few little parts in my kit that I have recognised from the old instructions (like the tyre valve type bung) which I now know is for testing fuel pressure in the injector rails,But I dont need this as the quicktune monitors that,They have supplied an allen key bung to replace it but I guess the nut, Bolt kit etc is a universal one so it comes with bits from the old kit also.

What I found hillarious is on the old instructions they cant tell you enough to USE teflon tape on all fuel connections.
On the new kit instructions it clearly says DONT under any circumstances USE teflon tape as it can block the injectors

A turbo is classed as a noise suppression device, so no back box required....  Daft I know. Having a removeable back box is definately more socialable though.
