You Cant Rush These Things!.......

by coatesy » Fri Jun 22, 2012 10:51 pm
Well after 10 years of ownership and storage in a garage, I think it's time and well overdue to get my van back on the road and being used as intended. Firstly I would like to thank all the people on this forum who gave me advice on potential restorers and I'm glad to say that I've left my 1963 RHD walk through in the capable hands of Dave Haywood at Haywood Classic and Custom. I will try to work out how to upload pictures as the story unfolds. : :D

Cheers.

Finally said goodbye to the van for a few months restoration courtesy of Dave Haywood, all safely loaded on the back of Craig's trailer (excellent service and highly recommended) for the trip up to Kenilworth. Its going to be a while before a get her back, but hopefully Dave's diagnosis wont be to painfull!!!

Just as an update, Dave has been busy stripping the Van down and having a good prod around. Rust and filler in the normal places and possibly some welding required before it is sent to the blasters.

What looked like a sound panel turned out to have plenty of the white stuff coated on it!

Just an update. Full strip down uncovers a whole host of surprises.

Plenty of work ahead and time to order a growing list of panels.

Replacement panels have arrived from Schofield and Autocraft.

Dave makes a start on some welding and cutting prior to sending it to the blasters just to ensure the van keeps its strength.

Looks like the replacement side panel is a good fit.
