1967 sea blue / white original paint resto!

Hi
I collected my new van on Saturday and got stuck into the work yesterday, so will try get some pictures on some time today!
Some of you may recognise this bus as it came from a well known supplier of VW goodies, here in the north west!
1967, sky blue, cumulus white, LHD.
Plan is to keep the original paint, fit new cargo and front floor, inner outer cills. there are a few other areas needing attention, but as far as I can see right now (with a big chunk of the floor out) nothing else major, but who knows!
Van got stripped out yesterday, head lining, all trim etc, aside from the welding work at floor level, going to get it waxed pretty quick to keep the paint as it is.
Also need to do some work on the pop out windows, the seals need replacing and there are no seals on any of the windows, so not good for keeping water out!

Pics later!

Old buses are so interesting when in the 'found as" state. They make great pics. Looks very cool! Nice one.

Thanks for the comments, nice to get this home on a long weekend, pretty much stripped it inside and most of the cargo floor is out!
Found a few more bits that need sorting as to be expected!
Cargo floor
Floor supports
Off side inner and outer cills
Front chassis cross member (behind front beam) is corroded around heater pipe
Rear chassis cross member, heater pipe is rotten, but look like cross member may be OK
Top of near side wheel arch is corroded and holed
Lower top section of near side wheel arch has a hole in it
Lower top section of off side wheel arch has hole in it
Inner wheel arch on both sides need repair section
Battery tray, both sides need replacing

All pop out windows need new seals, goons try keep the frames as they are, but a lot of corrosion on most of them! I was looming at seals and didn't realise they were three pieces as there are none fitted to the body!
Cargo doors need repairs to lower sections as well as the piece just below the glass, I suspect a lot of this is due to lack of seals on the body!

All new seals on front doors and small repair to near side lower, inside door section!

Engine lid needs a bit straightening!

Need at least one pop out window catch, rear valance as well as a rear bumper to match the front!

Wing mirrors, two holes on either side where mirrors were mounted, but can't find these, anyone point me in the right direction?

If its a yank bus, riviara or the likes, it may have had truck mirrors fitted, grants correct the normal position for mirrors is the top door hinge, truck mirrors are very rare and may not be the same as yours, best get a set of elephant ears fro c&c or the club shop etc.....

Looks great

I have the exact same model in the same colours.
But some idiot in the US resprayed it very badly so we're gradualy sanding it back/peeling it off as it's very poorly applied.
Nice patina underneath though, and like you I'm gradualy matching the patina as we go around where teh OG paint has been sanded through.

Keep up the good work!

Also don't throw out any of the original seat and panel material form the inside, the salt n pepper stuff, always in demand! and you'll regret binning it.

New axle tubes done!

They did a great job, yeah, its just welding two tubes together, but they went the extra!

First off the jig was checked and found to be out, just one of the rests was a bit low, so they corrected that.
Then the ends of the gearbox end tubes were machined flat in a lathe, the other end was ground as close as possible
The tubes were tacked in 4 places then put back on the lathe to check they were aligned and true, then welded!
