:bounce: Evening all :bounce:

Not a lot to show for today :(

I started by getting the Vespa frame into primer along with the top halves of Rusty's cargo doors and the rear hatch

I got a load of filler onto "Valencia" and sent it home with Dad to rub down  then spent several hours refurbing the front mudguard. This is how it was at the start

Image

all the time fillering bits of Rusty and sanding back

and at the end, having replaced all the rusty centre section which has a joggle in it

I've done both of the sides now and have to start on the main part of the roof (that's the bit at the front now   )

It's getting there and we hope to have both vehicles going into paint very shortly

Cheers

I was looking for a small frame but they are difficult to find as projects or cheap. Hence the large frame 150GS. I must admit that I didn't know the difference when we bought it

I think we are going for a beige grey L472 body now with orange embellishments.

Nice.......
I have been looking on the French site and found a model around 1965 which would be great. .

Just need to find one to buy as a project or half decent for restoration. ...
Rode one of my friends quite a lot as a kid and was pillion on a Lambretta...
Look forwards to see what you do with this...

Today hasn't gone well :(

Before I went off to work this morning I did manage to put the air box flap back together though

and I don't think I've posted this photo, the money shot after the weekend

Unfortunately though, yesterday our en suite toilet and shower drains got bunged up so I came home today with that to sort out. I tried flushing it through from another loo, but that is now bunged up too. Both showers are full of water   I've rodded back from down below, but unfortunately the blockage is in an inaccessible pipe in a roof void, so tonight I stripped off some roof tiles and felt and battens off to gain access. There's no rodding eye in there either (although I could dismantle the 4" pipe) I'm going to fit one, which is difficult in itself in a roof void whilst trying not to fall through the ceiling below. I will put an accessible rodding eye in but that means drilling through a wall using a core drill so I've go a bit to do. I blame the tw*t that put it in (me)  Ho hum, it will get sorted but hope it doesn't rain too hard tonight 8O

So Rusty…… I bought this today as I'm fed up waiting for air to catch up

Image

just a cheapy from Screwfix but it seems to work ok. I also started on stripping the front roof section

Nitromoors gets the orange paint off, but it won't touch the OG VW paint. It does say on the tin that it's not for removing car paint though. I've ordered some industrial strength stuff off the net, but if anyone has any recommendations, please post them up

That's it, not much. Oh, and the painter came for a look, but he's busy and can't start for a while :( :( :( Oh, and Dad turned up with something to show me…. I'd sent hime off to refurb the Dormobile lifters and he brought them back to see what I thought. He's done one at the moment. What d'ya reckon? I think it's great

Oh dear..
Is sir a little bunged up?

I have horrors about bring bunged up

Like the fact that my in laws lived next to a house with three diaghters in it...
Need I say more?
The common sewer ran between the houses and they were about 2 feet below the house next door..
First indication of a problem was when I had just returned from the "Christmas Morning" Pint at the Club and it was anounced that the down stairs loo would not flush BUT it was all right because the upstairs one worked..
I rushed in the down stairs loo to find it brimming it.
Rushed outside to find the im metre wide passageway between the houses underwater with floating unmentionables...and then thought
I know I'll get the rods out that i had provided Father in law with as a timely presnt only weeks before because he had mentiond things were a little slow and rod the next manhole down...to see first if the problem was there..
Lifted the manhole cover to find a nice dark grey concrete looking layer just below the surface and thought funny..
I fast realised it was not concrete!
I steeled my self and connected the rods up all ready with a memory of a hole about 12 feet deep when the house was being built..
When I broke through the "crust" the gaseous emissions was TERRIBLE..
I persevered and aimed the end of the rod down, down into the lower bowels of the sewer abyss and aimed my rod into the corner..
Fortunately i found the hole first prod and something started to move with a sound and smell i will never ever forget....

SLURP SLURP...SLURP SLURP STINK STINK STINK...
I half expected the hoUse to diassappear...i NEARLY LOST THE RODS
My rproblem was the excess of Alcohol and the absence of brains...
Which generated my favourite expression when these things reoccur...

I know which end of the stick to hold..

I nearly lost about 20 feet of rods and in desparaton got rather more than I bargained for..ALL OVER MY HANDS AND LOWER ARMS
Needless to say I no longer had a stomach for my Christamas lunch but after a few large measures of Lagavuulin and a bottle of best bleach on the hands it did finally return..
So fond memories of being bunged up..

well
Stay looks really well!

Be careful with fumes from Nitromors tyle paint stripper extra strength..
They weakened it down to remove the carcinogenic fumes..
