Santander to Roscoff good camp sites and places to visit

by goddess63cab » Wed Jun 20, 2012 6:55 am
Hi

We are taking the splitty on the ferry to Santander then working our way up the coastline to the port of Roscoff. Can anybody recommend places worth visiting or good campsites along the way
Can anyone recommend a good breakdown company for the trip?

We have two weeks :)
Many thanks

Eli

Hi Eli, we stopped at Domaine de Kerlann many years back which is near Pont Aven. We had a caravan back then but intend to go back. Only 1hr or so to the port of Roscof.

Hossegor was awesome, loved it there.

Arcachon sand dune (largest in Europe) is great too :)

You can't miss the Cap Ferret after stopping at the Dune du Pyla.
Lots of vw's down there... (Hometown of Super VW magazine) and it's gorgeous...

And I would suggest that you take the ferry from Le Verdon to Royan, driving up north... then hit the islands (Oléron, Ré and Normoutier).

You'll have a blast

We didn't visit many campsites but can recommend;

most of the small towns / beaches around Bretange region.
if you're venturing a little more east, then the visitor centre at Utah & Omaha beaches are well worth a day.
Carnac
Ile-de-re (off La Rochelle)
La Rochelle itself too.
Oleron
we used the ferry over to Royan too so that we could follow the coast
