by Prietolium » Sat Feb 02, 2013 11:01 pm
Sorry guys but Didn't know where to post this......
Im planning some family holidays with a baby for the summer but I cant get the ferry's booking right or cheaper
I have got a standard (no lowered) 65 microbus and I have got a few queries if you can help me......
Do I book the bus as a motorhome, van or minibus......? Heights ? lengths?
Do I need to add the roofrack+ luggage to the heights when booking.....?
Any recommendation of sleeping cabin to travel in ? 2 adult + Baby
are there any good Low cost ferry website or company?
Any tricks to get cheap tickets in general Please????????? it looks very expensive to me >£1000 :?
anything that I should take special care of.........

MANY THANKS

We use: http://www.ferrysavers.co.uk/?gclid=CL6 ... tAodvTUAyA

Do I book the bus as a motorhome, van or minibus......? Heights ? lengths? Height & length are the main cost issues.

Do I need to add the roofrack+ luggage to the heights when booking.....? Yes

Ferry costs to Spain during school holidays are a joke  You can get a Med cruise for less :(

LD lines offer good rates to France. Also mid week is cheaper than weekends

Hope that helps :)

If you're crossing to Calais take the eurotunnel. Such a better system and worth the extra coin. In one door out the other in half the time. No faffing no BS.

Ferry to Santander is a good crossing but never cheap. 1000 pounds return sounds about right to me.

We've just booked a ferry. Booked on as an estates sized car. It's no bigger than a range rover, that's the way we looked at it!

We have had a cabin on an over night ferry & it was great. We had a fab nights sleep ( important if you have a little one), breakfast, then fresh for the onwards journey.

Good luck with the trip. Look up "The bus driver" Stephan on here. He did a massive road trip round Europe with his new born a few years ago. You might pick up some handy tips!
